I actually have a really funny story about pomegranates. But it was from a time in my life I don't actually know how open I am about. I have no idea who I've even told the story to. Amnesia is crazy.
So I'll talk about something else.
American public schools completely depend on the district. I went to a title 1 public school for middle school and a weird percentage of high school. In sixth grade, our World History teacher didn't seem to have the firmest grasp on what history meant. She was teaching folklore alongside actual history with no distinction.
I would bemoan Christofascism if it weren't for the fact that we were learning about Greek Mythology and the Exodus of the Hebrew people with the same reverence.
For one lesson, the teacher brought in a pomegranate and gave us each one seed to show us how little it took for someone to get totally messed up in Greek mythology.
Almost everyone was failing the class at the end of the year if I remember correctly. We had a year end project that was just like 600 extra credit points so that people would stop failing. Those kids needed their arms twisted behind their backs to do literally anything related to schoolwork.
Back to pomegranates. Loving pomegranates made me feel metropolitan. They were an absolute pain to eat, but they were cool and modern. I was a white suburban girl in the 2000s. Of course I bought into the pomegranate juice trend! It was too soon for the high fructose stuff to be in the juice aisle. We were getting those Pom juice bottles from the produce section.
Why did I torture myself so much with 'cool' fruit?! Pomegranate juice, the health food stuff, is just a step above prune juice. I do not like prune juice. I love prunes, but golly gee. The good thing about prunes is the texture of the fiber. The good thing about pomegranates is the adventure of eating them. The actual taste of the juice is just a thing that is there. Taking the least fun part of the pomegranate and putting it into a bottle with no sugar is just... Why was juice ever even a health thing.
Now, I will admit. That grape or apple juice blend from the shelf stable juice section pomegranate juice is great. I love that stuff. Pomegranate flavored juice is awesome. But the real stuff? Like sweetened cranberry juice is my jam. I will not drink unsweetened cranberry juice. Actually, I may have those completely confused. I literally can't remember the last time I've actually drank juice. I might have drank some when I was in the hospital. I might have had some orange juice at some point. Maybe in a few days I'll suddenly remember all of the times in the past decade that I've done more than take a sip of prune juice just to remember why I don't like it.

Before C+V English, I'd say this was impossible. This is a pure CV bank but with only English phonemes. But the only thing that's missing is the end plosives. If I just do some jiggling and hoping, I don't need to just make him sing Japanese!
Or uh... What's going on?
Oh. This is a divide between OpenUtau and regular UTAU. So programs all have their own levels of finicky for sample rate or bit depth or wherever. Using too high of a sample rate will just make the waveforms not exist in the oto editor but they will play. D00M had a bit depth of 32. UTAU said haha no. And not only was the spectrogram shot, D00M could not be used at all. But I was able to pick out the samples I needed... To make him sing Japanese.
His voice is absolutely lovely and I would love to show off more of him... But this troubleshooting and fixing used up all the time for this article! You won't have this problem if you don't use OG UTAU though.
