Forgotten Friday #102 - フルウト音真愛 / Mai Furuutone
I think I have been getting too deep recently, and I should be more uh... More straight to the point. Articles have been taking me longer because I get side tracked, and having fireside chats isn't the purpose of the articles. I really, really want to be able to download more UTAUs, and I have like a hundred articles to get through to do that. So, yeah! Picture, sample, links.

Why in the world is the website for these UTAUs made in flash?! I just want to look at the box art better, but I can't. What in tarnation!
So, her design is hard to make out in the official art on the Wikia. It's literally a scanned picture of a pencil sketch on red construction paper with holes punched to put it in a binder. Linework and coloring has been done on the version on her site, but the site is Flash so I can't just look at the art in detail.
And then, clicking on the link to the concept art... My internet crashed.
I think the easiest way to describe her dress is as "faux Asian", where you can see that it's kind of Asian inspired, but not lifted directly from any one culture. Especially because the dress is red! She... The design is busy, and the section on it on the Wikia page is difficult to read.
Her design is really cute, my head is just too confused to relay it.
Her color scheme, apart from her dark purple hair, seems to literally be red, white, and blue. Her nationality is "White", which makes me go, "huh." I mean, I'm so used to people using American to imply white, which is problematic, so seeing it just say white for the race is like, huh.
She loves Poptarts. They're her favorite thing. She loves her family, hot chocolate, and warm beds. She can't stand eggplants and being let down. When her poptart gets harmed, she dies inside. (Unless it got destroyed by her eating it... or maybe not. It's possible she's an animated rock, so I don't know if she needs to eat.)
She's ditsy and doesn't really do a good job at most of anything. She is easily upset.
How is Furuutone Mai's bank?
So, Mai's bank was packaged strangely. I extracted the voicebank from the ZIP and this is the path from the folder I put it in to the bank itself: "[the folder I put it in]\Users\dell\Music\New Folder".
Her name isn't in there anywhere! I have no idea how or why that happened.
This bank is the 1.5 act. I believe the majority of it is the same as the first bank she released, but it has a few rerecorded samples and an adjusted OTO file. It's the only available bank I believe.
It is a one pitch, hiragana encoded CV bank. When I opened a few WAV files to see which UST I should choose, I couldn't hear them at all. This usually is a very bad sign, as UTAU will need to amplify the sample by quite a bit, which will make it fuzzy.
OTOs are completely borked, with the overlap going after the preutterance. It's extremely difficult to see what's going on with the wav form because of how tiny and quiet it is, so I had to switch to spectrogram each time.
It's actually really surprising! Though the samples are extremely quiet, there really isn't much more noise than any other late 2009 bank. It's a nice voice. It has some flaws, but most of this is from 2009. Everything from 2009 has flaws.
