Wiki Wednesday #91 - あんとんこうた / Anton KoUta
Alright! I put off looking at this UTAU because I had the link to the CV bank that I never got around to downloading. I checked it, and the link was dead. So, as far as I know, there is only one available bank. The website is 404, and the Wiki page is run by the people who made Anton. I could go on a magical adventure to see if there were any bread crumbs that led to a bread house, but naw.
Anyway, let's go!
Who is KoUta Anton?
Official Art Packaged with Bank But on the Wiki, it said is "created by app" What app? |
Let me just start by saying that I did look up the team behind him, Futureloid. Searching it in a search engine just showed some person with Kaito in their username making pitchbend fanloids? I don't think they're related. I checked the user activity for the account that made the Wiki page, and only edits on Anton's page exist. However, I did find out that Anton is Russian! Though, if I took the time to read the bio, I would have known that without snooping.
Anton is fourteen and male. He weighs 40 kg and... "love powerul songs". I make mistakes like that, and English is my only language. The only thing I don't get is if he loves powerful songs, or if he is best at love songs and powerful songs. Talking it out in my head, he loves powerful songs.
Fun fact about me. I have bad dyslexia and can't conceptualize lengths or widths or mass. I went to a Christian school that hated science, but had to teach it legally. So, one day I just read that a tiger is one kilogram and that stuck in my head somehow. I knew better than asking for clarification because of what happened when I asked the question "Wait, is fire alive??" because the definition the teacher gave us for what is living was... not exactly correct.
(If a kid knows what an atom or electron is, then you can just tell them that fire is when a little electron gets so excited it hops! up and makes fire.)
How is Anton KoUta's bank?
This is a classic case of "The moment you promise it, it won't happen." Anton only had one more promised bank, but it was a four pitch bank with pitches that were less of a scale and more of a collection of appends. That's better than having like ten banks promised, but it's still a lot of work to record and OTO four pitches.
So, how is his one available bank, VCV? It is a one pitch, romaji encoded VCV. The folder name is "VCV_mono", so you'll have to edit the folder name to know what's what if you want to keep him around.
And holy heck what the heck. He is literally romaji encoded. I am not kidding you. He won't work with a single one of my tester USTs without something getting edited, because... romaji encoded aliases with no hiragana support?! The OTOs aren't very... good. But, that's an issue with the recordings. I held up my hand to measure how long the "ts" was in "i tsu"... and the "ts" was longer than the vowel. It's also hard to fix because the samples are tiny little whispers.
It's... It's a weird situation. It's not necessarily bad, but just so many strange choices.
Where can I download KoUta Anton?
You can download him from his UTAU Wiki page. This UTAU has a nice voice, but I think if I used him again, I would cut him down to a CV bank because I'm just stumped on what the heck to do with the VCV in this state.
