Forgotten Friday #16 - 有屋ギィ / Ariya Gii
I have a bad habit of seeing an UTAU's design and instantly saying "I love you and I will protect you from this cold, cruel world!" without once hearing the voice. This is one of those cases.

This mentality can end with severe disappointment. If the voice isn't a match to the design or doesn't live up to the design, you end up liking the UTAU even less. Luckily for me, this UTAU's voice matches its design.
Who is Gii Ariya?

The UTAU Visual Archive usually has the most information on UTAUs, yet the only information they seem to have on Gii is that she has a female voice, was released in 2009, and is probably wearing a lizard suit.
There is not much information that I can find on her creator, Sekieki. Her diary blog is password protected so I can't find any information through that. This UTAU is a bit of a mystery, I guess.
How are the banks?
Gii has two banks. I have no idea how to romanize the names of the banks or how to write them in English. One of the names comes back as "Falsetto" on Google translate, but the bank is 100% not a falsetto voice with the average pitch being lower than the other bank. For that reason, I'll just be writing the Japanese names of the banks.
An important note is that Sekieki asks that you do not combine both banks into a multipitch due to how drastically different they are.
There is a download link on the distribution page to updated OTOs for each bank. I am rendering samples using those OTOs. They aren't perfect, but they're way better than a lot of the stuff I've seen in writing this blog.

地声ファイル, if I am understanding correctly, is the base bank.
I love the voice! It's one of those voices that is strong and soft and the same time. It fits the design extremely well.
裏声ファイル is a strong bank, meaning I won't fawn over it as much as the other.
That being said, I still really like the voice! It is less cute, but it still goes extremely well with the design.

How can I download Ariya Gii?
All of the download links (along with the updated OTOs) is on Ariya's distribution blog. The download links are next to the bank names and say "DL".
Ariya Gii is awesome. The design is cute and the two CV banks match it and sing well. If anyone wants to relive 2009, this is a good bank to start out with.
