Forgotten Friday #50 - 変わった音レック / Rekku Kawattane

It doesn't bother me, and I think it's really cute now, but it's not completely correct to format names in this way. Family names (and also given names, but they are separate and not dependent on each other) can either have kanji or kana. Kawatta comes from the verb "to be different", meaning it has all of the verb stem goodness. I'm not sure exactly what the voice provider would choose if told this, so I won't go on a search to find an alternate name for the funzies.

This is my first article back from my hiatus! But, I also have nearly a month's worth of Wiki Wednesdays scheduled out after this goes live, so it's almost like the hiatus never even happened.

In the spirit of nyoom-nyoom, I will only be focusing on the one bank that was easily accessible through the Wikia page. I'm really out of practice, so let's just jump in.

Who is Rekku Kawattane?

So, according to O. Herman, this bank is from Saint Lucia. Her voice provider, Ricca (formerly Rickee) has an email address from a UK domain. Which is it?! It's really irrelevant, if we're being completely honest. But the answer is that, according to her dA, she lives in the UK. After so many users have just been gone without a trace, it's shocking (but nice) to see a user still active and making adoptables to this day. She hasn't done any UTAU work since 2015, it seems, but oh well. She's still here!

I contacted Ricca via dA to see if she had ever released her VCV bank. I'll edit this article to include the VCV bank if it was ever uploaded... But if it was never uploaded, all we can go on is what the Wikia gave us. Looking at the dates, the Act 3 bank I was able to download was from 2010, as was the Wikia page. If Ricca's birthday was the inspiration for Rekku's birthday, then Ricca and I are about the same age. And wow, reading the Wikia page, I am literally thinking, "This was me. I was Rickee, and Rickee was me."

It's the little details that only come from angst filled early teenagers that strike me. 

She thinks cupcakes are spinless little horrors who don't deserve to see the inside of her mouth.

How is the bank?

I dislike the idea of coming back and editing this if it turns out that the VCV had been released, but I  started this before I did a deep enough dive to know that Ricca was still alive. I brought this on myself. There's a 50% chance that the VCV was never uploaded and the computer housing it destroyed it in some way, and there's a 50% chance that it was uploaded and Ricca will hand it over. On that 50% chance it no longer exists, I'll write this article now.

(Note, while writing this I contacted Ricca and she responded. All of the computers and external hard drives housing Rekku's later banks, in fact, malfunction to the point that all of her banks (INCLUDING A QUADPITCH VCV) have been lost.)

The only bank I got my hands on was the Act 3 linked to on the Wikia. It is from mid-2010, which is basically one of the best times for Forgotten Friday. Plenty of banks to choose between, and so many adorable overseas accents. 

I believe her name came from how uncharacteristically low her voice was, but her average pitch is still A#3.

I'll be completely honest. It's probably from eating way too much Halloween candy, but Rekku almost made me cry. I used the YuraHonya Koe UST (that I edited to be Mode 2 compatible) and it hit me so hard in the feels I could feel myself wanting to cry and how soft and sweet and nostalgic the voice was. Were the OTOs off? yes. very. But that just made it softer and sweeter and I love this bank. 

Where can I download Kawattane Rekku?

You can get her Act 3 CV from the UTAU Wikia. I offered free OTOs if she does my English list, so she may come back with a new English bank. I doubt it, but this bank just made me feel so happy.
