Forgotten Friday #53 - 仲田ルボ / Nakata Rubo
So, Rubo's gender is glasses. Generally, I take effort to make sure that I don't misgender non-binary UTAUs, but really? Glasses? I'm just going to use she / her. Her genderbend uses "g+15", which means that her genderbend is more masculine than her. I did something rare and actually rendered off a sample before I even got to the "Who is this UTAU?" section to confirm, yeah, this is a feminine voice.
Thank the good lord for the UTAU Visual Archive. Even if I was able to download the bank with a link to the distribution site, the distribution site is long gone and replaced with something really, really concerning and spammy. I did find an email, though, and I compulsively asked if the voice provider would record my English list. I do have a problem.
Who is Rubo Nakata?

So, Rubo actually aged! When her CV was recorded, she was sixteen. When her VCV was released, she was 18. I'm not going to do the math, but she would be a different age if Satone recorded again!
She loves teddy bears and hates fava beans. Fava beans are actually Vicia faba. A word I had never heard before was "broad beans." According to Jisho, though the reading is the same, the kanji meaning can be either sky beans or silkworm beans. One sounds fun and magical, and the other sounds barf.
She has a "special move" called Metal Bear Hurricane. What that means, I don't know. I basically repeated the Google translate of her UTAU Visual Archive page, so we can move on to the banks.
How are Rubo Nakata's banks?
Rubo has two CV banks and one VCV bank. The CV and the VCV have the same name, so you'll need to take care to not overwrite one with the other if you want to use both.
The first CV bank was recorded in January of 2010. I want to hug her and hold her and protect her from the cold, cruel world as a mother would. She's a Japanese UTAU, but she has that overseas sound from 2010 and I don't get it but I love it. (Her "a" in "ta" is closer to "t Q" than "t a", which I understand is an esoteric remark.) Also, she pronounces some of her "S" sounds closer to "dZ" and I love it and I want to protect her. And the mic quality?! It's so muffled and sweet!
Next came her second CV bank. There's this weird clicking that happens and I have no idea how are why it happens. It only happens in one specific spot in one UST, so maybe it's just a UST problem. She got moved to a nicer microphone, but her voice got even softer and sweeter, and I just love this UTAU.
After that, she finally got her own VCV. The microphone quality seems like a step down from Rubo2, and the voice sounds closer to the original CV as well. You know what this means? She needs a Kire VCV. Or, since I'm only offering to OTO English, an English Kire bank. A very haphazard pseudo kire using the two CV banks is possible, but I'd rather listen to one or the other. I just really, really love this UTAU.
Where can I download Nakata Rubo?
All of the links to distribution videos for Rubo can be found on her UTAU Visual Archive page. I love this UTAU a super lot, and I know that her manager is still active. That doesn't mean that the voice provider is still active, however. I sent an email to two of the emails listed in Rubo's readme files. I didn't @ the manager on Twitter, because I already sent two emails, not sure if either was still being checked. I don't want to seem too creepy. Either way, even if she never gets another bank, I really love Rubo and I hope you do too.
