Wiki Wednesday #43 - 真歌ジョー / Joe Manaka
Happy new year! I wrote this entire post without wishing all of you a happy new year! So I came back up here to say HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Guys!! His name is actually "jou" and not "joe"! It took me all these years to realize that Joe Hisaishi is actually pronounced as "jou"! I always felt so lame when I read it as the good ol' American "Joe". But it was! That was it all along!
Super fun fact about Joe Hisaishi. He took his name from Quincy Jones, who co-produced "Bad" and "Thriller" with Micheal Jackson. Jones's daughter played a character in The Office. But yeah! This is an UTAU blog, so I'll talk about the UTAU in question!

When I first saw the design, I thought, "Oh! Cool! One of those old guys wearing traditional clothing!" Then I saw the foot. Whaaat! This guy is some magical creature that no one knows the name of! And he owns a car! Two cars! A Miata and a... Lotus Europa Special? He likes Power Rangers? He doesn't like booze?!
I'm confused. This is a confusing character.
How is his bank?
Joe has a one pitch VCV. And I'm not even kidding when I say that it sounds so insanely similar to other jiisans I've written about, only better! He really sounds like a better Osakorepoid. I was kind of critical of Osakorepoid and wasn't the hugest fan of the tone. However, pairing that tone with a well recorded VCV makes for something pretty awesome if you ask me.
I don't know why, but I just really like this UTAU. The character makes no sense and has such random details. Why do I find that so endearing?! Regardless, I believe his bank is really good.

Joe can be downloaded from his Download page. Am I the only weirdo who genuinely gets excited about banks recorded by jiisans? If I'm not, this article will probably make someone really happy when it introduces them to this guy. If I am then... Well, I like this UTAU at least!
