Wiki Wednesday #47 - 美波うり / Minami Uri
So, I usually don't like to go really out of order, but this little pumpkin only has one voicebank, and that is very helpful to my nyooming. Her sisters, Kon and Mato, come before her in the Vegedol download page, but wow they have a lot of voicebanks.
This is an UTAU that previously would be shoved in an investigation, but I am so grateful those things no longer exist. I can nyoom even faster!
Who is Uri Minami?

Now, there really isn't much to know. She is a vegedol, which means she is based off of a vegetable. Her entire bio can be summed up as "She is the personification of a pumpkin that enjoys gossip and is voiced by someone named Ti-bi.
Alright, I wanted to hide this instead of making a new post about it. It's being written in a post about a Japanese UTAU that probably won't get many views and definitely won't be read by anyone related to the production of this UTAU. These will pop up whenever I see fit as a fun bonus when there really isn't much to say.
I actually am worried about my computer. I just backed it up, and I'm going to scale back on making anything meaningful that I really care about in case it just crashes one day. This computer has been through quite a bit. The motherboard got fried, the USB 3 port barely has USB 2 speeds, it has traveled from Tennessee to California a few times, and the screen broke. The battery died, and being a fance-pants Macbook knockoff means that you literally need to pull the thing apart to replace it. All of that is no big deal. New screen, new battery, and the motherboard was fixed under warranty. The specs on it are still really, really good. If it were to just be immortal and not have any catastrophic issues, I could see myself being happy with it for another decade.
But, all of the specs are meaningless if the hard drive fails. The hard drive is the heart of the computer, and if it fails... I would lose all of my data anyway. Every Google search tells me that old fashioned spinny-spin hard drives are only guaranteed for five years. This poor thing has been chugging since 2012. Of course, there will likely be more problems even if I just started out with a new hard drive and the same computer. You just have to accept that electronics are like pets (but not really. Pets are living and irreplaceable, but the metaphor stands). You might have a tortoise from the 70s that lasts until your grandchildren pass, or you might have a little rat that passes after only two years.
I do have a plan. I'll cover more of this randomly in another article, but I don't want to be to long. I do plan on buying a desktop for my next computer, if I ever get another computer. (Chromebooks don't count as computers, and I will always have a mid-range Chromebook, even when my current one gives up ghost.) I have looked at the numbers and I can get something nice after some things fall into place. But, we've been waiting for one specific thing to fall into place for nearly two years, so... It's a waiting game?
All of this was just a lead-up to the fact that I'm going to be pushing myself as hard as I can to push this out a year. That's roughly 100 articles, but I'd rather my blog just sit there and pump out new content than just throw up my hands. That way, if my computer gives up ghost, I'd have a year to get a new one before the blog suffers. So, tl;dr? My computer might die, but I'm going to work hard to make it so that my readers will only notice if they read these walls of text hidden in Japanese UTAU write-ups.
How is Minami Uri's bank?
Now, don't get your hopes up when you see the filenames. Despite being named tandokuon, she is rentan. What does that mean? Well, her samples have names like "yayuyo". I see that and I get little light bulbs in my eyes. Generally, without stating it's rentan, that means it is CVVC compatible, just possibly missing a few transitions. But, because it is rentan, there is a space between each sample. So, absolutely zero CVVC capabilities.
For some reason, I got confused about her having an OTO and downloaded the one from the download page. I was the first person to ever download it. (yay?) But, it looks more or less identical to the one currently in the bank, so I'll move on from that.
And... I love her. I love everything about her. I really dislike Halloween and "spoopy", but I love pumpkin. Pumpkin puree can be used to substitute almost anything I'm allergic to in baking, AND oil! It's healthy, and with a bit of sugar, it's downright delicious. So, I already like pumpkin, and then I heard her voice?
I am in love and I am saving this bank for testing out some USTs I was working on.
Where can I download Uri Minami?
Uri can be found on the Vegedol download page!
I had to take like an hour break for Google Drive to actually load so I could put in the sample, so I lost my momentum. I think I'm going to go eat a cookie, because why not? It's a complete cookie, so it's only 200 calories, but has insane macros. Download Uri and love her, please.
