Wiki Wednesday #45 - Yochina Oto / 幼稚な音

This (NSFW lyrics) is one of my favorite songs. I can't name a favorite, but "Girl From Ipanema" has been my most consistently favorite. But, like, "Girl from Ipanema" is one of those things that you just feel complete when you listen to. "Mercy" is just straight up the kind of music that expresses every emotion in separate parts. Like, "Girl from Ipanema" you gently sway to. "Mercy" you convulse violently to. Is it happy convulsions? Mad? Sad convulsions? All of them. Not every time, but most times.

This UTAU is named Baby Sound. Okay, technically infancy sound. But Baby Sound sounds cute.

Just like last week, I have some serious vamping to do. However, this is an UTAU with a detailed backstory. So, that's nice. 

Again, I'm not looking at any information about the user because I don't know if our paths have crossed and I don't know if we are cross with each other. This is a happy place where no one is mean, dang it! If it turns out that they are mean, then I wouldn't have a fun time writing this article. But, I'm going to assume they are a big sweetheart. If they aren't, then it doesn't matter because I don't know! So, I'm going to say that Yochinone is probably a sweetheart.

Okay, so I'll get it out of the way here instead of later.

This UTAU has five hundred and fifty (joking, twenty) promised banks and only one released. I searched up and down to see if any of them were released and the Wiki wasn't updated, but it really seems like there's only one. This is a lesson to younger users!! The second you say something is coming soon, it becomes coming never. Don't ask me the logic behind it, because it's a metaphysical concept, not one we understand ourselves.

I hate to see that the user had plans they were unable to fulfill, but I'm really happy I only need to render one samples.

Anyway! Which is his last name?! As I said in a previous article, the Wikis used to always enforce Western Order. But his kanji name is Yochina Oto. His Wiki article is titled Yochina Oto. Can I call him Oto? I'm going to call him Oto. When I talk about Oto's OTOs, which I will briefly, it may get confusing. But I'll try to remain stylistically consistent and use consistent capitalization for Oto's OTOs.

Oto has a normal BMI and hates a guy named DENGEN. He loves being a Drag Queen and cooking. He probably loves putting on smooth jazz and stargazing. The smooth jazz part I completely made up, he is just stated to like music in general.

I decided his voice provider is a cool person, because Oto hates racism, homophobia, and abusive people. He's cheerful and is sad when people are sad. And then I saw a mildly transphobic thing in his bio and felt sad. (Using the word "trap" in reference to a person is very not good, and something to be avoided. I won't explain it past "it is hurtful to trans women" here.)

This is actually kind of similar to what caused the harassment. People told me to not point out when someone does something xist, because it's okay to say something xist if you didn't realize it was wrong at the time. (???) Calling your UTAU a trap is transphobic, but you are not transphobic if you do something so minor because you don't realize it was wrong. You call out minor infractions to teach people to avoid that in the future. But parts of the fandom conflate calling out infractions for calling out people. Please don't do that. If you're called out for doing something xist, just don't do it again and say thanks for the heads up. 

How is Oto Yochina's bank?

The naming convention is strange. Instead of "a.wav", we get "- a.wav". 

And the OTOs kind of... Don't exist.

I think I should be able to quickly fix this in Moresampler. It won't be great, but it will be better than a bunch of goose eggs staring at me.

But I love this bank. I really, really adore the sweet and kind voice. All of its problems are just part of its charm. Would it be a little difficult to pick and choose parts so that it sounds nicer? Are some of these just issues you need to whip out audio editing to splice away? Yeah, kinda. But it's just such a cute and sweet voice.

The download link is on Oto's Wiki page. You will have a hard time with this bank. It's not an easy bank to use due to really weird issues with samples. However, if you are willing to work hard, you could make something amazing with it.
