I'm just waiting for the clock to roll over to two AM to get some downloading done. This is likely the last Wiki Wednesday article I'm going to write for a good while. Simply because this article is pushed out almost an entire year from the time of writing, and Forgotten Friday is barely pushed out at all. Though, the next Wiki Wednesday article will show up one week from the publication of this one!
Wiki Wendesday #127 - 未来狼 / Mirai Okami
This UTAU is an Android! However, bring an Android has nothing to do with being an UTAU. She was taught to sing and survives from money gotten from singing, but UTAU doesn't come up in her bio.
She's an Android that happens to be an UTAU, not an Android because she is an UTAU. The connections users make between humanity and being an UTAU always fascinate me.
Who is Okami Mirai?
Official Art from Bank |
I… I don't know which is her given name… it's Mirai. I can't ever figure out order if there aren't kanji!
She loves cheese and sunny days playing in the fields. She hates rain and solitude.
So, I have a bad habit of putting UTAUs into AUs their voice providers didn't intend. Previously, an UTAU just said that they had wires coming out of their backs because he wouldn't let anyone work on him. I made up a story about how an emergency repair (that didn't happen) to stop his battery from exploding (which didn't exist) caused damage that scared him off from ever letting anyone touch him. That part never happened either. But I like pretending it did.
For example, Mirai is extremely hyperactive. That's it. She's annoying and constantly gets into trouble because she's rebellious and spontaneous. Sometimes people have ADHD. But she's a robot! I want to explain it! I mean, she'd a damaged robot, and she was poorly made. Like, when she was being made, part of her circuitry was fried. It was hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of silicon and solder in her chest. (Her sensitive components are in her chest cavity. Her head transforms from a human to a wolf in the schematics. Also, heads are bad places for brains.)
The chip was fried, but they thought it was redundant. It was just a chip that would regulate overclocking. No big deal, right? Nope! Now she has robot ADHD and doesn't respect authority! You could have just waited a few months and shelled out a few thousand more dollars, and she may have been able to transform fully! Ya dang bakas.
And none of that happened. I made that up because I think that might have happened to explain the hyperactivity.
I like to imagine that she never actually got rid of the instinct to hunt prey that was programmed into her wolf form. Like, she goes to a party and she meets Softly Deerla. You see, Deerla is half deer. Mirai is standing in one corner, holding her empty red solo cup (it's an American party, and the fact that she doesn't drink fluids doesn't stop her from wanting to fit in!) Her hand is shaking as the stares her down. Then out of nowhere, she lunges across the room and sinks her teeth into Deerla's arm. Everyone starts freaking out and trying to separate them, until her big sister, Tani, flips Mirai's temporary kill switch and lugs the lifeless body with blood dripping from the lips out of the house.
Mirai is fifteen and has a green and brown color scheme. Her hair matches her brown tail and ears. She wears a speckled lime green sweater with the sleeves pushed up to her elbows. The sweater has a collar that resembles a sailor suit. She wears light brown pants, cuffed at her knees. Her shoes are brown, and her eyes are green.
When she outright broke the first time she tried to switch forms, the entire project was shelved. She was sold by the Japanese company to an Australian individual named Chibi. (That's the voice provider!) Chibi taught them English and singing and lets them use those talents to make back money on the investment.
How are Mirai Okami's banks?
So, to be honest, I'm only writing this at this moment because I had pulled the banks into the folder that I use for these articles. I could put them back, but then... I need to progress.
Mirai has two banks that I have found: a CV and a VCV.
The one pitch CV bank has an average pitch of C4. OTOs bad. They aren't properly aliased, meaning that I had to type in the romaji for "ji" for "ji" to show up. That's the case for way more than ji. There are no hiragana aliases. There are romaji aliases for romaji file names.
And, well.
But it's okay. Anyone can fix the OTOs of the bank. The voice itself is very nice! I do enjoy it. It is more of a mature voice with an accent, but it is still very nice. No idea what the last "ta" is about, though.
Is the one pitch, romaji encoded VCV better? Yes, you silly gooses! The VCV has hiragana aliases, and isn't missing "gyu"! It was recorded recently enough to the CV, so the tones are very consistent. Mind you, though, there are still recording errors and things that look to be missing. "u ん" does not seem to exist.
But, if you do workarounds, she sounds really great!
Where can I download Mirai Okami?
You can find the download links on her Wiki Page. She is worth checking out!
