 It is Christmas Eve and Christmas is cancelled. Without losing a day to celebrating and two days to recovering from emotional exertion, can I process twenty-four articles in one week?! Unless the COVID gets worse.. I say yes!

Forgotten Friday #138 - v.g.m.のムラサキ / Murasaki

Okay. So, I go through phases. One day, I can listen to trap and the next day it gives me a panic attack. 

I'm going through a phase right now where it really bugs me when people don't research and draw animal legs correctly. 

If I didn't say this and tell myself to shut up and that no one cares, there would be a three hundred word rant on how a canid isn't a plantigrade.

Who is Murasaki?

Okay. I love these UTAUs. The previous one, Shina, coped with the death of his sister by dressing as her. Murasaki here coped with the death of his most beloved shrine maiden by destroying an entire village. He was treated like a God, but he threw it all away in a fit of rage.

And it's poetic! Especially when you read his personality.

He's kind and calm. He loves nature and takes naps on the porch. He's a sweetie pie! But grief and anger destroyed his life. Poetic!

Boy howdy! Life is weird without a cellphone in this day and age. I can do basically everything that I would need to do without a cellphone. We have an emergency landline I can use to call people. I have my computer, which has Bluestacks so that I can run any android only app that I need. I even am typing this in bed on my Chromebook! The battery died on the poor thing, but the charging cord is long enough so that I can type on my bed. It can’t really move from this one spot, but at least I’m in bed.

I was sitting at my desk to work on these, and I just felt overheated for some reason. But bed is nice! It’s cooler here.  

Murasaki stopped keeping track of his age after he turned 300, and his favorite thing, with the translation being pasted directly from Jisho is “rice ball coated with sweetened red beans, soybean flour or sesame​”. I love that. I’ve never had it, but I want it. I love rice and I love adzuki. I can’t have soy, though, and that’s no fun. 

He dislikes chocolate because it is poisonous to foxes. Apparently, it is toxic to all canids. I’m not sure how many times I’ve published me talking about canids at this point. I’m a cat person, so you think I’d tie more things back to felines. But naw, y’all going to keep hearing about canids most likely. 

He is calm until provoked and takes pride in his beautiful silver coat of fur. Though… When I say provoked, I mean that the living being that he loves and cherishes more than anything else in the world passes. That’s what it takes to get him to stop being calm and collected. Then he will level entire villages. 

He wears traditional robes and has cute little fox ears on his head. But the feet are wrong! I said I wouldn’t go into a rant about this.

So… 

There’s like five more of these UTAUs back to back in the spreadsheet. Stuff like that can make writing them in order tedious. I have to because the second I slip up, it all falls apart. And saying, oh, well if I just skip them now… I can come back later… I know from working on Wiki Wednesday where I allowed myself to skip around, I never come back later. Because I get lost!

Anyway, guy has two banks, so I should hit the word count.

How are Murasaki's banks?

Murasaki has two banks, one of which I forgot to download. (Whoops...) But, thankfully, because I have a reasonable data cap now, I felt okay downloading it. Yay!

The first is his regular CV bank. OTOs are, surprise surprise, not very good. The voice doesn't really seem to match the design because it is too forceful and sounds a bit too youthful. But, it is not a bad quality bank at all.

Next is his three pitch VCV, which I think is supposed to be "fate append". The pitches are C4, D#3, and G#4. It's not a bad bank. The higher pitches sound a little muffled, but dang it, this literally does not match the personality or the design of the UTAU at all. It's still a nice bank, (the blending of pitches is nearly perfect) but it doesn't match the vibe.

You can download him from his distribution page. While he is a good UTAU, the voice and the face don't match, which may be an issue for some people.
