Who Is Soreha Magaine?

"Yes!" Aliyah laughed as she walked towards the elevator. Like most modern teenagers, she knew how to use her phone and walk at the same time.
"What's so good?" McKenzie craned her neck to try and figure out what Aliyah was holding.
Aliyah slipped her phone into her pocket as they came up to the elevator. "Just the most epic Plex server on Earth!" Just as soon as she pressed the 'up' button, the doors opened. She explained as she guided McKenzie in. She thought for a moment. She could dumb down what she wanted to say, or she could just say something that McKenzie wouldn't understand. She was okay with answering questions as they cropped up. "We're not allowed to use the Internet, but we do have a local network that we can connect to. This building has access to a Plex server that has basically every movie or TV show that's worth watching."
"Huh." McKenzie nodded along.
Aliyah was relieved and worried by the response. Relieved because she didn't need to explain, but worried because it seemed like McKenzie had no drive to figure out what was actually happening. "We didn't have a television at Miss Constance's house because she didn't have electricity." Once the elevator doors opened and they stepped out, Aliyah pointed up at the ceiling. "Did you notice that the light looks kind of blue here?"
"Huh!" McKenzie looked up at the lights as they walked through the empty hallway. "Aren't they worried the ceiling will catch on fire?"
"No, no." Aliyah forced herself not to laugh as she patted McKenzie on the shoulder. "There's no fire involved. Just electricity."
"Huh." McKenzie went back to looking ahead until Aliyah stopped in front of a door. Once again, Aliyah flicked her wrist a few times until her hand glowed. She gently touched the door with her fingertips until there was a clicking noise and the door opened.
"Jackpot!" Aliyah laughed as she ran into the room. She snapped and the lights came on as her hand stopped glowing. She threw her backpack onto one of the beds before flopping down on her bed herself. It was perfect. Of course, it was just a normal dorm room - not a suite with a fancy couch or anything - but it was the best dorm rooms the school had. The beds actually were comfortable and there was an attached bathroom. "I can't believe this is real! It costs actual money for people to live here!"
"Money..." McKenzie's eyes widened. "That's a thing here?" She read about money - dollars, cents, and sometimes pesos and pounds, but why would witches need money?
"Oh." Aliyah shrugged as she sat up. "We're not powerful enough to be post-scarcity. Even if we were, it's just easier to pay money than to learn how to do things yourself."
"Do we have money?" McKenzie's eyes were wide.
"Nope." Aliyah shrugged. "Whatever welfare we deserve goes straight to the school for our upkeep."
"Huh." McKenzie slowly nodded.
