Axfc is a jerk. Here's my post on how to get downloads from there to work.

Multi-pitch CVVC banks do not work properly with the shareware A for automatic button!! Any articles where I complain about CVVC banks being broken is my own fault for not figuring it out sooner!!

Wiki Wednesday #366 - Tobiraka Doa / 扉歌ドア

Doa is a door who wishes to appear more erudite than she has the capacity to be.

Let me tell you about salty tea. (TW: diet)

I'm American. We disrespect tea. I do have an electric kettle so at least I'm not microwaving water...

But it's relatively known wisdom that a pinch of salt reduces the bitterness of tea. The British refused to believe that, but plenty of cultures have done it throughout history.

I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about putting baking soda, low sodium salt, and sugar in tea. The sugar is annoyingly strong now that I'm better hydrated but a sodium bomb without the glucose to move everything around isn't exactly healthy.

I put in enough salt that it's somewhere between broth and salt water. And darn it... It's yummy! It even feels good to drink it because it has what plants crave! (Idiocracy is a problematic movie that accidentally advocates for eugenics... But that line is just too quotable.)

I've done it with chai spice tea, chamomile, vanilla peppermint, and green tea. The chamomile tea I had just wasn't good and the chai spice was okay... But the green tea and vanilla peppermint?! Absolutely amazing.

Vanilla peppermint tastes pretty sweet and the mint hides a lot of the saltiness. The green tea... I just really, really like green tea. Memories from childhood get warped over time. The way green tea tastes now is how I remember black tea tasting when I was a kid. Super nostalgic because, you know, sweet tea is the drink in the south.

(Also, I'm a recovered weeaboo. Associating green tea with matcha makes it easier to love it for a very silly reason.)

So... I'm doing it because electrolytes are really helpful. I used to eat a ton of salt... And then weight watchers made potatoes and oats zero points. Instead of canned beans and corn, I started eating whole foods. And whole foods tend to, you know, not have the same processing to add all of that extra sodium. I'm trying to move from WW to CICO which should help a lot. (On WW, a sweet potato is zero points and potato chips have points. With CICO, both are basically equal. A sweet potato is "better" but sometimes you need potato chips.)

It's obviously unhealthy to have too much sodium. But Americans have a very high baseline for sodium. The one I was a little worried about was potassium. It sounds like too much potassium would be harmful... But I think I'm okay.

The potassium comes from low sodium salt. Sodium free salt sucks. It tastes very bad. But something about the low sodium salt interacts with the tea very, very nicely.

So yeah. You should talk to your doctor before doing anything like drinking salt. Your health may mean that drinking salt would be dangerous for you. Or your doctor might think it's a good idea.

But at the end of the day... I don't really care about the health benefits of salty tea. I just really, really like drinking it because it's yummy.

How is Tobiraka Doa's bank?

You would expect a bank like this to be busted. The voice provider is a door! But a lot of effort was put into making this a pretty generic cute voice. I doubt people would hear this and think it wasn't just a person recording. The voice is nice and cute. Fricatives are a little strange, but that's okay.

The bank is described by the creator as CVC. In practice, the bank is a CVVC bank with no VV samples, but the samples themselves go like bab ... bib...

Where can I download Door Tobiraka?
