Wiki Wednesday #3 - 栞音フミ / Shiorine Fumi
Something that you may have noticed in my previous articles is that I kind of have objectively bad taste when it comes to what I consider an amazing UTAU. WHITE is a muffled mess on a sub-par microphone, but I am crazy about it. I stopped liking Ritsu the second Ritsu started getting super popular because I need my muffles!! I don't want a strong voice. I want a soft and muffled voice.
So, take it with a grain of salt when I start raving about this bank. It's a one pitch CV that's super muffled.
Note, I have no idea if the voice provider intended for the name to be written as "Fumi" or "Humi". The icon in the bank itself is named "humi", but that feels like an oversight. When you write "hu" with Japanese input, "fu" shows up. I'm sticking with "fu".
Who is Shiorine Fumi?
Fumi has a genderbend named "You". I dislike genderbends, so I won't talk about him. But he exists! All of the information that exists on Fumi and You is on their character page on the official website.
Shiorine Fumi is a fifteen year old who likes books and parfaits. She really dislikes carbonated water. And let me tell you, her design is beyond adorable!

The design is perfectly modest with a great color story.
Fumi was created by 朋(かこねP). Sadly, the Twitter given in the Readme file has been abandoned. A little Googling revealed that all of her Nicovideo activity ceased around the same time the Twitter was abandoned. I really wonder what happened.
How is the voice?
Well, uh, it's actually kind of unusable in its current state. I didn't realize until I opened her up to test her out that her "te" sample has no "t". However! She has a sample named "つぇ" that says "te". It should be "tse", but I'm not picky when there's a quick fix to a problem. Due to "つぇ" coming before "て" it just takes setting one alias to fix the problem. If it were the other way around and "te" came before "tse", it would require renaming samples. Bleh!
Regardless of the weird workarounds you'll need to use to get this little girl to sing the lyrics correctly, it is worth it. (Well, for me. As I said, I have objectively bad taste.)
The biggest problem I can see someone grappling with is the "ん". It's awkward and I'm not exactly sure how to fix it.

The download page is here. The download link says "DL". I love this bank and I really wish there was a VCV bank. Sadly, with her voice provider going missing, I doubt that will ever happen. There are other banks with this kind of muffle that are VCV, but they don't have this adorable design.
Hopefully, someone out there has the same tastes as me and loves this bank! (Hey, it's only bad when it's my tastes. If you have those tastes, you're totally right for loving her too. 😆)
