Who Is Momoiro Ai?

I am one of those old people. I swore I'd never get a TikTok account!
Well, I did get one specifically so I could post demos for my UTAU without risking my YouTube channel.
When I was discussing this with a friend, she suggested just making a new YouTube channel. Sadly, if someone gets their channel deleted for copyright strikes, every channel that's even vaguely connected to the email on that channel is deleted. I didn't know that either until I did research. I'm paranoid. I'm afraid that if I had a second email that never even interacted with my original channel, YouTube would get mad at me and ban me forever for trying to circumvent the process.
I'm not a TikTok pro. I've posted one whole video that wasn't a fair test because I had to pitch down the instrumental to fit Nicky's range. But here's what I learned!
You can never post more than a minute of any song. That's just how it is. Even your own music that you own could get your video muted if you include 61 seconds of it if it's in the Sounds library. This means no full covers... Ever.
The Sounds library is giant! Every song I really wanted to cover is in there. Note that I only care about English - Japanese songs are probably not as well represented.
You should always label the song by choosing the correct sound. The conventional wisdom was that you need to set the volume of the original sound to 1% to not get muted. I didn't do that because I could still hear the Sound I added. Again, I don't know if that's an issue because I had to pitch down the instrumental for my first test.
Vocal synth covers, regardless of the effort and how impressive they are, tend to get labeled as unoriginal. This means that they cannot show up on anyone's for you page. To circumvent that, I made a super cringe video where I made a bunch of clip art fly around so that it was more than just playing the music. I read that just playing music, even if it's legal to use it with an original video, is grounds for muting.
I make my USTs using Praat and I hate tuning. Just popping out minute long covers isn't a huge, horrible time sink for me. That one minute limitation means I'll be able to make enough mini covers to not be too upset over some not working out.
I don't think my TikTok will get banned for being muted too many times. But even if it does, I'm cool with that. It would stink if I got really into it and lost a backlog of really cool covers, but whatever. I am totally okay with the end result being the same as if I said "I'm not risking it - I'm not making covers at all."
I'll learn more by the time this is posted!
