Forgotten Friday #71 - 雪村ツリアナ / Tryana Yukimura
So, my mental health has been so low I could barely write, so high I could barely stick with one coherent thought, and then just eh. I spent like a month saying, "It will be better if you put off writing the blog. You want to give people a good product! And then I was like... It's not happening if I wait until I can think and write well.
I'm still not at a place where I should be writing articles, because I'm really easily distracted and I want to write almost everything I think. I spent like five minutes trying to write the cold open, because I wanted to be just... honest? But then I think about how awkward outright saying what the doctors visit was actually for might just be. So, revision, revision. I usually don't do much revision because I can usually think well and in a way that presents the front that I want to present. And, of course, my sentence length becomes Japanese. (You can crack open a Japanese book and one sentences takes up an entire page.)
So yeah, on to the actual thing people come here for. Don't worry! You're getting your picture and audio file!
Who is Yukimura Tryana?
Official Icon from UTAU Fandom |
Let me begin by just touching on the name. The Wiki page states that Tryana is a common name in America. (Well, typical and common kind of imply the same thing.) Wikipedia didn't have any results for the name. I looked it up on Google and found out that since 1880, under one hundred people in the United States had that name.
Now, there's a really good chance that what the voice provider meant was America as in the top of Canada to the bottom of Chile. I almost felt like a huge jerk for just being confused at a random name that doesn't really seem to exist being called typical... Maybe her voice provider's name was Tryana? Nope! It's Emily!
The next part is just my confusion over the kana chosen. Tsuriana. I would pronounce this as closer to "churaiana" or "toryana". (For Try-ana and "T-ryana" respectively.) But I literally am not one to talk. There was this disconnect in my brain for a while and I didn't understand why no one pronounced my UTAU's name wrong... The name I gave her... in kana... that I pronounced entirely differently, despite studying Japanese. The answer was obviously that I didn't think things through at all and it never dawned on me that I didn't think things through until a decade after the fact.
Anyway, her character item is spork. She was killed in a fire, and then made into an UTAU by someone named Jack. Now let me tell you how I feel about UTAUs being robots created by others! (Because she likes science, not necromancy.)
It sucks out all of the humanity and all of the fantasy possibilities. That's really it. Everyone can do what they want with their lives and their fantasy worlds, as long as it isn't hurting anyone. But the second the character is in my hands, you bet your sweet bippy that Tryana was brought back by Jack pleading with a necromancer. The brain damage from the death caused her quick temper, and her love from singing comes from the pleading lullaby her mom sang as the smoke began to fill the room and they each started to lose consciousness.
How is Tryana Yukimura's bank?
So, before picking my testing UST (I have several now!) I opened up a random WAV file and was actually pretty shocked. It's not perfect, but wow. The recording quality is pretty good for someone who just showed up and left almost immediately.
It's not perfect, but I'm really impressed. It's a nice voice, and though it has noise, the noise is consistent and not at all jarring.
Where can I download Yukimura Tryana?
Her download link is on her UTAU Fandom page.
Almost all information on this UTAU's physical appearance has been taken down with deactivated deviantArt accounts. There are two pictures of her I could find, but one is a Black Rock Shooter alternative version and the other is only from the waist up. If you want to use this UTAU, you will need to take a bit of creative licence with her outfit. But she's a nice UTAU, and I like her.
