Wiki Wednesday #115 - 香織ホシ / Hoshi Kaori
I actually edited this UTAU's wiki page so that I could write this from my phone! I added the character art and pasted the readme into the article itself. I made sure to do that for every UTAU until number seventy on my spreadsheet. Isn't that amazing?! I mean, I'm on article 112 at the time I'm writing this on my phone. I've done way more than seventy. But to be like, look! I'm making progress and not just ignoring stuff!
That's what feels good. The list starting with a really high number.
Who is Kaori Hoshi?

So, Kaori feels more like a given name to me than Hoshi does. But Hoshi is way easier for me to type! So, some are won and some are lost. As a bonus, no kanji is given for Hoshi. Her name could mean dried!
Hoshi wears a modified peach yukata with a short skirt. Her orange sleeves are detached and begin above her elbow. There is orange lacework around the arm holes on the bodice itself. She wears extremely tall pink boots with orange lace details, and has a mint colored sash around her waist, fastened with a giant bow. Her long brown hair has pink tips, meaning that all of the hair that extends past her elbows has been bleached and dyed a pastel pink.
I believe the eyes are also peach, but the image quality is bad. Because of internet troubles, I keep YouTube set to the lowest quality. That usually doesn't really matter, especially since I'm usually on my phone with YouTube in split screen (smol videos), but I hadn't set it back to my normal 360p when I took the screenshot from the video for the wiki artwork.
Hoshi grew up on a peach farm. That's why one of her character items is a peach! Her other character item is a Teddy Bear.
I'm an adult, but I'm not afraid to admit that I keep a giant Teddy Bear on my bed. Sometimes I feel like I'm choking and can't sleep laying down. I grab the bear, set him against the headboard, and use him as a giant pillow. I also have a cute little pillow thing with a cat face on it that sits on top of him. That one has no real purpose other than imaging that it's his stuffed animal.
Hoshi loves Korea. She loves everything about it. She loves the food, the music… she also likes sweets and peaches!
She hates bitter melon, homophobia, and being referred to with problematic language. (Lolita style is good, but do you actually know the story of Lolita the book? It's terrifying. It's meant to make you want to throw up.)
In Hoshi's universe, being an UTAU just means having a singing career. She left the family farm to become an UTAU. So in this AU, UTAUs are humans.
I really thought I was going to get to six hundred words with how descriptive I was about her outfit. She's sixteen years old. Which, dang. I remember being young and making my UTAU a few years older than me. Kids have no idea what a sixteen year old is allowed to do in life. You're 14, living at home, writing about your sixteen year old OC who has no parents just moving to Japan on their own and somehow affording things without a job.
It's harmless wish fulfillment. If your oc was twenty-five and worked at Burger King, you wouldn't even recognize them as a self-insert at age thirteen. Don't stop doing that stuff. Keep making your sixteen year old OC move to the city to be a singer, or inherit a farm that they work all by themselves.

Like, just not what I expected. I was expecting something different. I knew Tofu was a chiquito at the time of recording, but I thought this chiquita was going to be voice acted. Microphone quality isn't the best, but I really like that aesthetic.

You can download her from her Wiki page. Huh. I'm a little sad that the design was just next level good, and the voicebank wasn't next level with it.
