Axfc is a jerk. Here's my post on how to get downloads from there to work.

Multi-pitch CVVC banks do not work properly with the shareware A for automatic button!! Any articles where I complain about CVVC banks being broken is my own fault for not figuring it out sooner!!

Wiki Wednesday #113 - 青嵐アキラ / Seiran Akira

Whoo! Yesterday, I didn't write any articles. I spent about ten hours, with some breaks in between, working on OTOs for MEL+ Zuii. A lot happened. So, first, I checked our internet to see how many gigabytes we had left. It was upgraded from fifteen to fifty without us knowing?! My understanding is just that we had the second-best tier, and a decade ago when we got the plan, the second-best tier was a fifteen gigabyte data cap. Now, they aren't abject sadists and know that fifteen gigabytes is nothing. So now it's fifty!! I'm so excited! I'm not afraid to work on my blog during the day now!

Wiki Wednesday #113 - 青嵐アキラ / Seiran Akira

This one is from the same family as the other ones I have just written about. Why? Because I'm going in order according to my spreadsheet! So when I say that I'm back in bed, that might conflict with the article before this one where I might have been in bed for writing it also. No one cares about the continuity of my articles and where they were written, but I'm happy to be in bed. The chair on the porch is really tiny. It's too small for me to sit with my legs crossed like a frog, and I keep forgetting to wear socks so that my feet don't get cold.

I mean, imagine if I got a camping type chair with a cup holder! The chair we have migrated away from the table, but the table is tiny. I could literally just move the chair and be able to use the table as a cup holder, but I forget to do that so I just don't take water with me.

Who is Akira Seiran?

Official Icon from website

So, I'm horrible at placing voices. Literally awful. When people are Nancy Drewing who did what based on the voices, I'm just like, how?! But I think I can Nancy Drew that all these UTAUs have the same voice provider. Like, the appends are different enough to sound like recording error and the different UTAUs sound like appends from samples on the distribution page. Maybe I'm wrong because I can't see the character file which likely would have the answer. But still, it's like, huh. This could be one UTAU if it were someone who didn't like character design so much.

Akira has two designs that are less divergent than other UTAUs in this family. She has dark hair pulled into a ponytail with curled ends. She wears a purple beret that horrifically clashes with her color story in her main image. In the secondary image, the color are moved around a bit to make it less drastic. Her shoes are either red flats or white platform heels with rose petals. She wears a cool toned sleeveless shirt and jeans. Her jeans have pretty patterned fabric on the inside so that she can roll them up and have a pretty accent on the cuff. Occasionally, she does wear a tan leather jacket. But not the black smooth leather, the cow hide suede kind.

Her roots are kind. I think what the sentence I was confused about was roughly intended to say that she acts like a cast member on Friends and is a total jerk because that makes her cool. She likes being cool. But she's actually very kind.

She is a university student and an aspiring photographer. She's absolutely garbage at university, but she still passes by some miracle. She loves drawing and window shopping, but then Google translate said that she buys things without hesitation, but that's literally not window shopping in the American sense. The point of window shopping is to not buy anything. If you buy something, it's just shopping. There's some random problematic parts that I'm not sure if are intentional or poorly translated, but she truly is a poet on the inside.

All that being said, let's see if her voice matches her personality!

How are Seiran Akira's banks?

Akira has four banks. Two are CVVC, one is VCV, and one is... CV?! I didn't expect CV from this website!

We'll go on the order on the website, CV, VCV, CVVC, then Dahlia.

Her CV bank is called Cobalt. The average pitch is F4. She sounds... strange. Too much oomph.

Next is her VCV, Blaze. The average pitch is D4. You can't ding me for making her sing too low, because only two notes are below her average pitch in this sample. It sounds struggled.

Next is CVVC. It has no suffix, no title. The bank name is just her name. It's not even her latest bank, so... huh. Again, the average pitch is D4. "a r" doesn't exist for some reason. "i n"... Is also missing? "i t" was missing, so I thought it was just plosives being unneeded, but "i d" was there? The OTOs were not good, but okay enough I could salvage them.

Not my favorite voice, but it's okay. Also, I only fixed the last three seconds. While rendering it, Resampler crashed... Meaning bad OTOs.

Finally, Dahlia. I really like that name, but I can never remember what the flower looks like. Then I look it up and think, huh. That flower isn't as pretty as the name. Now, riddle me this. How is ぬ_D4 missing?

There's two pitches. D4 and B4. B4 is hilarious. Well, "み_B4" is. It goes "MEEEH" like a goat, but the first time I heard it, I heard "HONK!" like a duck. I'm switching USTs to something higher pitches, though that means no CVVC. I really need to make more CVVC tester USTs, but ya know, so much stuff so little time.

B4 doesn't trigger until A5 in the original prefix map? Making that F4. It's eh. Not that great.

Where can I download Seiran Akira?

You can download her from her official distribution page. When someone has several UTAUs, they need to resort to doing "character voices" to keep them from sounding the same. For example, SRS has Zuii and Susuko. One is kawaii, and one is stronk. But to have another UTAU without sounding the same, she needed to make Psycho. He is an acquired taste. That's really the issue here. There's a lot of effort to not make it sound like other UTAUs, and there's a reason other UTAUs don't sound like that.
