Axfc is a jerk. Here's my post on how to get downloads from there to work.

Multi-pitch CVVC banks do not work properly with the shareware A for automatic button!! Any articles where I complain about CVVC banks being broken is my own fault for not figuring it out sooner!!

Wiki Wednesday #197 - Akio Kourinne / 光輪音アキオ

I told the manager of this Utau happy early birthday.

Wiki Wednesday #197 - Akio Kourinne / 光輪音アキオ

Akio is a seven year old boy who really likes udon and his teddy bear. His voice provider is KeraKera's little brother.

All that information comes from the readme file. The Fandom page has almost nothing in it.

Who is Kourinne Akio?

"Supposedly" fictional Chia here.

There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to biology on a universal level. There are guidelines, though. One of the main rules actually is broken by humans. A planet gets one shot at evolving sapient life. Once the major genre of species settles in, they will either evolve to be sapient or not.

If your dinosaurs hadn't been virtually eradicated, Earth would have never produced a sapient species. The little mice would have stayed little mice. Maybe you'd still have especially smart birds, but nothing that could come close to being independently space faring.

Borph was an example of evolution hitting a dead end. When you study ecosystems on most planets, it's an interconnected web that will fall apart if one element is removed. There's a carrying capacity that will teeter-totter between "too much deer, not enough wolf" and "too much wolf, not enough deer."

Evolution on a visible scale doesn't need to happen. If every mutation just isn't useful, and everything keeps breeding as usual, then any drift from the usual form is minimal. You have them in the form of animals like the goblin shark and coelacanth. The genetic information is different from their ancient counterparts, but if magic sat the ancient and the modern down side-by-side, you'd be pressed to spot the differences.

Borph was populated by a handful of small herbivores before the colonization. Any study done on the fossils revealed that very little had changed in a very long time. There was more than enough vegetation that niches weren't even necessary. There were no predators because that's just the dead end that the moon reached.

I was enamored by the shoulder riders, but there was another animal that I had a feeling Iira would fall in love with. In human terms, it was like a pig, but it had scales like a koi, and it had eight legs. The face was like a catfish and a dog with a long moustache. They were colloquially called orange scroungers.

I was chatting with the woman at the front desk when I mentioned them. She laughed. She wasn't from that solar system. She came to the moon to study the odd evolutionary path the animals had taken. Producing an eight legged mammal-like creature was one of the biggest signs that sapience would never naturally be achieved.

I asked her if the shoulder riders and orange scroungers were mammal-like. She shrugged. The orange scroungers and the shoulder riders did produce food for their young following a live birth. Shoulder riders excreted pellets filled with nutrients for the young to eat. Orange scroungers oozed a sticky goo from their scales that their litters would lick at. I jokingly asked if she had ever tried their versions of milk. She gagged.

She told me that if people had evolved next to shoulder riders, people would likely eat their nutrient pellets in times of need. But because times of need were pretty rare, no one ever needed to. However, orange scroungers had the most violently vile goo. It would stick to your skin and reek. They were generally clean animals that would seek out litter boxes when possible. But the life giving goo? It was enough to make it illegal to bring an unspayed female into public areas.

How is Kourinne Akio's bank?

I only downloaded the most recent. Why? It was 1.0.0 vs 1.0.1. I'm not sure much would change between 0.0.1 units of progress.

The otos aren't great. Some samples are missing consonants, but it's implied this was recorded by a tiny baby. The fact that it mostly sounds like a decent quality bank is really cool! Like KeraKera lamented, the age of the voice provider meant that the tone would primarily be feminine.

There is no hope at a second act without a full redesign to go with a deeper voice as this was recorded in 2016. That was so long ago!

Where Can I download Akio Kourinne?

You can download him from his Fandom page. He is a pretty cool utau!
