"I see you!"

Tara rolled her eyes. She held her hand over the sink drain and waved. She went back to peeling potatoes. 

The voice in the sink couldn't be reasoned with. It was fully supernatural. She had completely dismantled the plumbing and watched as the voice still called out. It was unaware that the plumbing was gone. It really was just a voice in the sink. 

"Are you gonna let me eat the peels?!" The voice called out.

Tara rolled her eyes. "Yes, you get the peels." When she looked back, the peels were missing. It was better than having a garbage disposal at least.

"Any plans for Friday?" Tara sighed.

"Your husband has plans! I've been seeing some lady hands!" The voice giggled.

"Voice in the sink, stop trying to make drama." Tara groaned. "You know I'm single and you know those were my hands with press on nails."

"You're right." The voice in the sink sounded embarrassed. "It's just lonely and boring down here."

"I could try dropping an MP3 player loaded with audio books down there." She shrugged. "What if I got an Alexa for you?"

"No, maybe to the MP3 player. But Alexa can't hear me, remember?"

Tara nodded. "If you could reach out, I could put a phone on top of the drain. Then you could watch videos. I mean, you grab all of the scraps all of the time."

"Technology just doesn't like me, Tamara." The voice sounded so sad. 

"I'm your only friend and you can't even get my name right?" Tara chided the voice.

"I've been down here a while!" The voice sounded hurt. "Maybe this isn't the only sink I'm a voice in!"

"This is the only sink you're a voice in." Tara laughed. "Just trust me that I know. Besides, how can I judge? You've never told me your name."

"Yes I have!" The voice was indignant. "My name is The Voice in the Sink!"

"Right, right." Tara laughed. "How could I ever forget that you are, in fact, the voice in the sink."

"I know you're joking." The voice got quiet. "I'd be sad if your memory was so bad that you forgot that I was the voice in the sink."

Tara left the sink to grab some chocolate. She unwrapped it and placed it over the drain. She looked away for long enough for the voice to grab it.

"You're the best, Terabithia!" The voice called out. 

"Closer." Tara went back to peeling potatoes. "But it's fine, voice in the sink." She shrugged. "Maybe you and pick a movie and I can put a phone over the drain. You'll need to pay attention if you won't be able to pause it though."

"Could you make me popcorn?!" The voice was extremely excited. 

"Yeah." Tara softly chuckled. "I'll make you plenty of popcorn. Enough to fill up the sink if you want it!"

"Yay!" The voice called out. "You're my favorite!"
