Haunted ROM hacks.

That's what Jenny was sold. Haunted ROM hacks on original cartridges to only be played on the official, original N64.

When she tried them on her hardware emulator, they were just lame games that were based on the old creepypastas. She was grown! She wasn't afraid of those.

"Let me tell you," Sam coughed. "This is an original. I mean, plastic has been patched to the point it's barely original, but what can ya do? It's been over a hundred years by now!"

Jenny rolled her eyes. "Are you going to prove it works?"

Sam looked hurt. "You think I would go and try scamming the best retro gaming streamer? I'd never sleep well knowing you could out me for my subpar copper!"

Jenny laughed. "You look way too young to be bringing up that reference."

"Learned it from you, Jen!" He laughed until he started coughing again. "Look, you're a wizard with solder, right? Of course this thing has more dust bunnies than most, thing was real loved. Plugging it in right now would start a nasty fire." He shook his head. "But I'll tell ya, those carts? Ain't no way they're actually haunted."

Jenny shrugged. "If they work as games, they'll at least prove the N64 still works. Besides... Think about it, everyone will say in the comments that any repairs I do make it not the original N64. At that point, what are they going to do? Drag me to a museum?"

"I like your thinking, Jen." Sam nodded solemnly. "Now, can you tell me about these haunted games?"

"They're just lame." Jenny groaned. "Someone made a Five Nights at Freddy's port. That's the only one where they had the balls to actually do jump scares. Everything else is atmospheric horror. It's... It's the N64, Sam. It's a bit hard to get immersed."

"One of thems Pokemon though?"

"They ported a ROM of Pokemon Red to the N64. But oh no!" She rolled get eyes. "The Pokemon die, and the trainers die, and then a scary pixel art hand comes up from the ground and then you can't win against it and then YOU die!" She laughed. "I cheesed it. I'm still editing the video, but I just glitched out of that battle then beat the elite four. Everything after the scary hand was completely unmodified."

"Wouldn't you be a little afraid that the haunted hand would show up in your studio?" Sam looked a little worried. 

Jenny shrugged. "That would make for a good video at least." She smiled. "If I include that in the edit, I'm crediting you."

"I wanna tell you Jen..." Sam sighed. "I watch your videos all the time. They're great! I'd be rightly devastated if you get hurt because I gave you a console."

"I'll try the lamest ones first," Jenny nodded. "Like one just claims that you'll see scary faces in mirrors for like a week." She laughed. "I could live with that, no problem."
