"You are bad at writing." John's face was completely blank as he sat at his desk. "Morgan, you are bad at writing and can you please quit submitting your stories to our journal?"

"Johnny-John!" Morgan giggled. "You are too kind!"

It was almost absurd. She was a thirty year old woman who he had been trying to build up into a proficient writer since she was fifteen. They were having the conversation in his wood toned, professional office. Not in a middle school classroom. All because it was her super serious absolute dream to be a writer.

"No... Morgan, please, I swear." He rubbed his forehead with his palm. "I have done literally everything possible. You're basically my niece. I WANT you to succeed. I promised your father I would do everything, but nothing works!"

Morgan slowly nodded. "So you're saying... I could improve my writing?"

John sighed. "Okay, sure."

This wasn't the first time. And he realized it wouldn't be the last time until she was putting words into his mouth at his gravestone.

He took a deep breath as he looked up at her. "What do you put at the end of sentences?"

"You put them in a coma!" Morgan giggled. 

"No, Morgan..." He groaned. "You put a period at the end of sentences... Well, okay. Fine an editor can fix that. What's your next idea for a story?"

"There is a haunted gummy bear." Morgan's face looked fearful. "But then it got eaten and it wasn't haunted anymore."

John grimaced. If he hadn't spent over thirty years on this, he wouldn't let his emotions show. If literally anyone else told him that idea, he'd try to develope it into something with them.

"Okay... You write a lot about haunted household items. What about a different idea?"

"Well, there could be a haunted car." She nodded. "And the haunted car could play music on the radio, but then someone steals the radio and the car stops being haunted.

John slowly nodded his head. "And how many words do you think you could get out of that?"

"A ton!" Morgan smiled brightly. "Because the car is sad because no one listens to the music because the music is scary, so the car says that it is sad a lot."

"So the car can talk?" Maybe something would sink through. 

"Yes!" She nodded excitedly.

"So is it actually the radio that is haunted?" He leaned forward.

"No. The car is haunted." Morgan nodded.

"Then why does it stop being haunted when the radio is stolen if the car is able to talk?" John tried to follow Morgan's thought process. 

"Because it's sad." Morgan threw her hands up in the air in excitement. 

"Okay. Write that story." John was just going to give up until another editor smacked him with another rolled up manuscript. "And... Have fun, Morgan." He grimaced.

"I will have fun!" Morgan giggled. "I'll feel sad for the sad car, though. Sad things are sad!"
