yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm not finishing this project on Christmas day. But that was a silly goal. I should be able to finish before the new year no problem.
Forgotten Friday #348 - デヴィーちゃん / Devy-Chan
Who Is Devy-chan?
"What could possibly go wrong!" Rose screamed out.
There was that moment when everyone who didn't know stared at her like the was crazy. And then it happened. This time it was a pipe falling from the ceiling and taking out the men across from her. The men holding her arms were shocked enough that she could shove them away.
Once they realized what had happened, she turned to them. "Do you want to test me?" She glared at them.
One of them lunged forward to capture her.
"What could possibly go wrong." Her voice was dry and emotionless. A car suddenly came blazing through, striking the man.
There was one man left. She narrowed her eyes at him.
"Lady..." He just stared at the horrific scene. "I let you go and you let me go? We pretend this never happened?"
"Thank you." She rolled her eyes. She turned and made her way out of the parking garage.
A black SUV was waiting for her. She opened the door and slid in. Once she was in and buckled her seatbelt, she pulled off her high heels.
"Can you go one... Single... Mission without causing thousands of dollars in property damage?" Her handler was never amused. He didn't want to be her handler.
She shrugged. "Uncle Sam's the one sending me out there. You tell the government to stop using me and I'll stop breaking things." She rolled her eyes. "Besides, I can't choose what happens. If I chose what happened, everyone would get a non-lethal heart related event that put them out of commission for just long enough to get them locked up or whatever the government wants for them."
Her handler groaned and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Okay, I'll send that up the chain. Did you learn anything valuable?"
Rose opened her purse and pulled out a flash drive. "Everything."
His eyes widened. "This is why you keep getting sent out."
"Why wouldn't I be able to do it?" She laughed. "I'm not afraid of anything. Get in a sticky situation? Quirky catchphrase... I'm out of it."
"Learn anything that's not on the flash drive?" He took the flash drive and opened up his briefcase to deposit it. He looked up at her.
"Minor stuff." She shrugged as she pulled the bangles off of her wrist. "Through shell games, the big boss owned the hotel. He cut corners. Paid off inspectors, only hired undocumented workers. Boring stuff to watch out for now that the Big Bad is dead."
"If you were a private citizen, that would be murder!" Her handler gasped.
"It was authorized." She shrugged. "They never send me in if it isn't."
"I will never adjust to you." He shook his head. "You are one of the coldest sharks in the Arctic Ocean."
"I know you don't mean it as a compliment." She smirked. "But thank you. I do my best to do my job. It's all I really care about."
