I misrepresented my situation as a method of coping. 

I'm still allergic to very many foods that are vegan. Thankfully, the allergies are pollen allergies as far as I know. Cooking fruit destroys pollen. Freezing it seems to destroy it also. It's not every fruit or vegetable - I haven't had issues with blueberries, strawberries, or grapes. I can handle lettuce like a champ! 

Living in Tennessee with a driveway lined by Bradford Pears (we didn't plant them and they are all dying - we won't replace them with more garbage trees) I can't avoid pollen. It's just a part of life that made a few months of the year just awful. 

I want to say that I'm growing out of allergies, but I just don't leave the house. When I first came back home from the pollen free paradise of Los Angeles, it hit me hard hard. Probably because of autism, I panic when I have to breathe through my mouth. Seroquel apparently swells your nasal passages up because boy howdy. Not even Afrin could help me breathe. I had to sleep sitting up just to keep my nasal passages even close to open. That hasn't happened in a long time thankfully. Not sure if it's because I take less Seroquel now or if it's because I don't leave the house. Maybe probably both.

The really frustrating allergy is my pet allergy. I actually love cats, but I can't love on them. I know hypoallergenic pets is nonsense, but my cat (who was sold as hypoallergenic) really is hypoallergenic for me. I can touch a random cat and instantly get a rash on my hand. But I was able to share a room with my cat! 

I had a really bad allergic reaction to my cat back when I was in middle school. It wasn't sudden or one episode. I didn't even realize it was a reaction until I was back home from California that I realized that the giant rash that the doctor had claimed was a fungal infection was really just my body freaking out about the fact that I was constantly hugging and petting a cat. I figured it out because after hugging and petting my cat who I hadn't seen in over a year, the same exact rash started forming over my eye in the exact same spot. Avoiding my cat made the rash go away. (Don't worry - Claudia still gets a lot of love from my parents and I do give her little pets and sometimes give in and occasionally let her hang out on my lap. Just not every day!)

There's no lesson here. I'm just lucky that I'm able to make my room a cat free zone. I'm lucky I don't need to leave my house often and be exposed to all of the pollen directly. It would be cool if I could make the allergens go away... But I can't. Not without moving far away, which I really don't care to do.
