Wiki Wednesday #28 - 闇海風憂灯のリュウガ / Ryuuga
After breaking my own rules last week, I figured I'd just break the spirit of them this week. While Ryuuga meets all of my criteria, she's still a Japanese bank. I'm not repping the overseas fandom that well, but this design spoke to me. I'll call her voice provider Itsuhoshi_P, as they are named on the UTAU Wiki. But, you know, I wanted the title to look all fancy pants.
Anyway, on to the article!
Who is Ryuuga?
Official Art Packaged with Bank |
Ryuuga is... I actually am not entirely sure. Tiremisu on the UTAU Wiki does an amazing service by cataloging these Japanese UTAUs, but I think she's just as frustrated at the descriptions as I am. A lot of stuff gets omitted from both of our summaries because some of the descriptions make you think "I literally wouldn't understand this even if I was fluent in Japanese." For example, Ryuuga's weight is listed as "竜眼7個分". The first word is longan, which is a fruit. Seven is obviously seven, and the next kanji is simply a counter. The last kanji means "part" or "segment". So, her weight is seven parts tropical fruit? Google translate it to "Seven long eyes", which, you know, also is not a weight. She's literally 5'9'', so really, what??
That confusion aside, she can transform her hand into a dragon claw. That's pretty cool!
How is Ryuuga's bank?
Ryuuga has one VCV bank. It is one pitch. Can anyone guess what I'm going to say next?
The OTOs are kind of wonky. The numbers this bank uses are kind of weird to me. Only 250 preutterance?? What! But I'm not going to do what I did for Softly Deerla. She was special.
I actually expected to love the voice based on the design, but eh. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad. It's a really good bank! But the voice type just doesn't really work for me as well as the others I have written about recently. If I hadn't just been writing about voice types that spoke to my soul, I'd really like this gal. But, you know how it is.
Where can I download Ryuuga?
You can find Ryuuga's download link on her UTAU Wiki page. I still love her design, and her bank still is a good bank. I do think she should get a bit more love than she's getting.
