Kakoi has four hands and just makes weird noises when she opens her mouth unless you ask her to sing. Then she sings normally.

McKenzie studied the ring on her finger. It looked a bit strange and felt even stranger. Instead of having a metal band, the band looked like it was the same marbled black and brown material as the 'gem', but it felt squishy on her finger.
"I have a tiny bit of European in me also," Aliyah confessed. "My parents were from Trinidad and Tobago."
"Oh." McKenzie didn't ask any follow up questions. She held the ring to her throat. Her skin felt strange.
"Magic is different for everyone," Aliyah shrugged. "But, I only learned frustration from Mrs. Mossgarten. The way she taught magic didn't apply to me at all. I had to go on my computer and read about people like me."
McKenzie groaned. She didn't learn to love to read - she honestly disliked it and never reached an appropriate reading level for her age.
"I can read it for you!" Aliyah held up her hands. "But we do need to study how exactly magic is different for you."
McKenzie nodded as Aliyah sat down at her desk and turned on her computer. "But I do need to be grateful to Mrs. Mossgarten for trying so hard. I'm only as powerful as I am because I forced myself to learn how to poorly do what she was teaching. Once I learned how to do it in a way my body approved of, I was knocking all of my classmates out of the water."
Aliyah went quiet as she clicked around and read different pages. "This is interesting..." She leaned in closer to the screen. She spun around in her chair towards McKenzie. "Mrs. Mossgarten uses a really bad first test, but she does it so that she can teach a lesson about magic not being the most important thing. Critical thinking is the most important. The best first test is fireballs."
"She showed us that!" McKenzie nodded.
"I'm afraid for you to test that, though..." She paused then stood. "Come over here and hand me the ring."
Once McKenzie complied, Aliyah took the ring and stood behind McKenzie. She took the ring and pressed it to the base of her neck, craning her neck to make sure that there was a ring of brown skin.
"For some people, it's not as easy as think of fireball, get fireball." Aliyah kept her voice calm, but she was excited. "Hold your hands out..." Aliyah blanked for a moment. What exactly was McKenzie meant to think about or say to make magic happen. She's took a shot in the dark. "Do you remember when we got to play with the little bunnies and put cute little hats on them."
McKenzie closed her eyes and smiled. She could remember the bunnies and the little hats with elastic bands to keep them on.
With a small puff of pink smoke, a small piece of crumpled felt appeared in McKenzie's hand.
Aliyah gasped and pulled away from McKenzie before pumping her arms in the air and dancing.
