Alucard is a very old vampire made by Cheeky Goblin who has a very deep back story. He loves playing around, but hates mean people.

The Jeff VHS, part 4

I was halfway through the box of tapes and it had been nearly eight hours. I had no choice but to eat and eventually sleep, and surely Booples was ready to be woken up. I sat down next to him and put my hand on his shoulder. "Hey, buddy..."

He jerked awake and sat up staring straight forward. I could see the moment he realized he was in a strange place. He melted down as soon as the realization sank in.

"Buds..." I really wish I had known his name. We didn't even talk outside of rarely asking for clarification. "What's wrong?"

"Jeff." He mumbled. "He's real."

I weighed my options. I remembered what my mother would always do when someone was having the warning signs of a breakdown. I put my arms around him and pulled him in closer when he melted against me. "It's okay if he was real. That was a hundred years ago - don't you think you could run away from someone who's a hundred and ten years old?"

Booples twisted his body as he shook his head. "No, I know he's there!"

I pulled away. "Hey, that rip looked really scary. Everything looks scary with that much degradation. Let's look at some of the other tapes, I'm sure that if we can see more clearly, we'll find out it's just a man wearing a mask or makeup."

He sank back into the couch. I casted my phone to the television.

The quality was still awful and the AI did nothing to upscale the resolution, but I could make things out now. The audio was muffled and warbled, and the image was blurry. 

The girls from before were cracking jokes and dancing around near a pool. A voice from behind the camera told them to watch out. There was a cut to a school play. Forty minutes later, there was a cut to a birthday party. I looked over at Booples. He was finally calm.

"It's just a normal family, I think." I gestured at the television. Then his jaw dropped. 

"Get well Jeff!" A young woman's voice warbled as I looked back at the television. The camera was focused on a pile of bandages and tubes in a hospital bed. At least, that's what it looked like until I could barely make out the outline of a snow white hand and the red of the bulbs used to collect excess fluids after surgery hanging from the bed.

I didn't stop the video. The ripped video from before was suddenly on screen. Before Jeff could appear, I turned off the television and hugged Booples. "It's okay... He can't hurt you buddy. Just stay right here with me."

Wouldn't it be hilarious if I was Jeff all along? Sadly, I am still just a regular grown man who now has to look after my blubbering mess of a boss. Hopefully I can prove to him that Jeff the Killer is dead.
