Forgotten Friday #268 - 焔音レイ / Homurane Ray
I was worried when I saw that the site was down. It was pretty recently archived. This issue is known to Ray's creator and the distribution Dropbox link has been shared on Twitter!
Ray is a Twenty-one year old woman who loves MEIKO and can't drink alcohol.
And here's a quick public service announcement. If you had an old Google account and haven't looked at in years, it might already be deleted. Your drive, your emails... There are only two ways to keep your account safe. The first is to tell Google to not delete your account after inactivity. The other is to upload at least one YouTube video. That YouTube thing wasn't part of Google's plan, but they kind of realized that there are beloved and important videos on accounts that will never be accessed again. This blog is on a Google service and I use Google drive to host the audio for this blog... So no worries. My YouTube channel will keep this blog up even if I stop being here!
By The way, Ray is not forgotten. Everyone knows her and loves her. But the fact that the site is gone makes it worth signal boosting the alternate way to get her besides the way back machine.
Who is Ray Homurane?

Everyone except for McKenzie was on pins and needles while they waited for McKenzie's diagnosis. McKenzie didn't understand why so many people were pitying her or why Ms. Marcia was asking her to take pills, but she just accepted it.
It had just been two weeks since McKenzie had started the medication, and she was different. One day after class, Aliyah was shocked when she walked in and saw McKenzie doing math homework on her bed.
"Oh!" McKenzie looked up at Aliyah. "Did you know that math is fun?"
Aliyah sat down on McKenzie's bed and looked down at the paper. She wasn't fully sure what she expected, but it was math homework that McKenzie was doing of her own free will. "I think Mrs. Mossgarten scared everyone. My math teacher just let me not do homework, even though everyone else did it."
"Why are you doing it now, then?" Aliyah was too confused to celebrate.
"Well," McKenzie laughed. "It's fun. Before, I hated it because I always made mistakes and I couldn't remember how to fix it. But now, it's like I just don't make mistakes. If I do, it makes enough sense that my work would get me partial credit."
A sense of understanding washed over Aliyah and she grabbed McKenzie to pull her into a hug. "You're doing so well! I'm so happy!"
McKenzie laughed. "I'm happy you're happy!" She pulled away from Aliyah. "Are you on the calculus track?"
"Yeah." Aliyah leaned forward. "Are you worried that because you're in remedial math now, you won't be able to take calculus?"
McKenzie nodded.
"Well..." Aliyah hummed. "Wait one second."
Aliyah hurried out of the room before running down the hallway to Stellaris's room. She caught her breath once she was outside the door before politely knocking.
Stellaris opened the door and smiled brightly. "Lili! How are... You're sweating!" She ushered Aliyah into her room and offered her a seat.
Once Aliyah sat down, she took a deep breath. "Stellaris, I have no money, but..."
"Lili, no!" Stellaris gasped. "What happened?"
"I'm okay at math, but I'm horrible at teaching stuff like that." Aliyah took a deep breath. "I want to find a math tutor for McKenzie so that she can transfer into the advanced math class so that she'll be on track to take calculus."
Stellaris paused before softly laughing. "I was worried you were in real trouble! You don't need any money - plenty of us tutor for volunteer hours to look better for university. It's not advertised because we have to go through this whole process so that people don't falsify their hours, but I'll get you the forms for McKenzie so she can sign up to get matched with someone."
"Oh!" Aliyah jumped up from her chair and hugged Stellaris tightly.
Stellaris hugged Aliyah back and chuckled. "Lili, what has changed with you?"
"I opened my heart and cared about someone..." Aliyah giggled. "I worried and I worried, will she be okay? And now she is."
How are Homurane Rei's banks?
Not counting a lite version of one of the banks (which I deleted as it would be redundant to cover) Ray has four banks.
The first is a two pitch CV bank with no subtitle. It is from 2011, so you know it has the old retro quirks. It is still nice.
It seems like CV 1.0 is the same as the previous bank, so we'll now look at CV version 2. It has three pitches. The main focus of this bank is the lower range. It is a nice voice.
Her 2013 VCV seems to be included twice, just like the first cv bank. As was the fashion of the time, she has 4 pitches. She has a very pretty voice with a very good range.
Finally, we have her 「裏声」 bank, which means falsetto. It is three pitches of vcv. The lower range of this is my favorite because her calm voice feels like a hug.
Where can I download Ray Homurane?
Okay look, mostly because of how hosting stuff online used to cost money (and any credit would be stripped), there was a huge culture of never under any circumstances direct linking. But Twitter is getting worse and worse... So here's the Dropbox! I'm happy Ray isn't forgotten and it was only a technicality that let me write this.
