Forgotten Friday #270 - スランキ / Suranki

I wanted to find a bunch of utaus with just like one cv bank. Instead I found one with... Forty-two??!

Suranki is a 38 year old man. He is a priest who likes watermelons. He also can't swim. There's more, but this is going to be a wild ride.

"Your happiness makes me happy." McKenzie crossed her legs as she sat on her bed. "It didn't matter that it made me happy before because my head hurt so much, but now I think it means something."

Aliyah took a moment to close her eyes and think about all of the things she stumbled upon when she thought that maybe McKenzie's biology was causing issues with her magic. She opened her eyes before hopping up and turning on her computer. "There was a book written a long time ago. It's kind of sexist and transphobic... But... Come on!"

Aliyah sent a file to the communal printer. She led McKenzie to the office room, then outside. It was the beginning of the sunset. Though it was still bright, the yard was bathed in warm light, making everything feel homely in a way that reminded both of the girls of Miss Constance's house.

Aliyah stood under a tree as she shuffled the pages in her hand. McKenzie, bathed in the warmth of the setting sun, looked towards her from her spot in the open.

Aliyah skimmed through all of the things that could be seen as extremely problematic before finding what she thought might be useful. She began to read. "Have a close sister read this as you close your eyes and plant your feet firmly into the Earth." She glanced up to see that McKenzie was following along. "Do not concern yourself with the North and South of the Earth, but align your own south with the Earth. Feel the gravity pull down at your legs. Align your North with the air that you are breathing and feel the lightness."

Aliyah was confused, but she continued when she saw the determined look on McKenzie's face. She was a bit shocked. She had no choice but to assume the text was doing something right. "Raise your arms to the side. Turn your Eastward palm up to feel the warmth of the rising sun. Turn the palm of your Westward hand to the ground, where the water that consumes the sun at night flows."

Aliyah didn't want to keep reading, but McKenzie looked almost as if she were enjoying herself. Aliyah looked down at the papers before continuing. "You are a woman." She skimmed to try and find something that didn't make her uncomfortable. The book was literally "Magic for the Disaffected Housewife Who Has Had Her Power Stolen". It was very inspirational for a mother who was finally willing to prove her own worth, but it was problematic to anyone who didn't reduce womanhood to a functioning uterus.

She couldn't find a natural place to pick back up. She took a deep breath. Who would really care if she said something problematic if it helped at all? Maybe it would negatively affect McKenzie, but she could explain why it was wrong later, right?

She took a deep breath and started over, deciding not to skip the things that were wrong.

How are Suranki's banks?

(note from the future: All of my fears were unfounded and you'll see why this article is so short in a bit!)

I'm not going to say much because haha.... So... Many. You may remember that I have a silly little tablet that runs windows that has like 1GB of free space at any one time. The first bank alone is over 700MB!

Thankfully, mega has been used to upload the banks. It's fast compared to other services! As a warning, if you are going through and listening to every sample, the iframes might bug out and you'll need to refresh. I will use the Bing Translate names of the banks.

Well, you see something new every day. This VCV looks to be two mora, but it's actually the two kana repeated over a scale so that there are no discrete pitches, just one giant bank with multiple pitches within. Sadly, the otos need work. He has a very nice voice.

The next section was ≫ Slanki Append4. Of ALL of them, only スランキ-夏まくら- was still avaliable. Wow! That's eight lost banks!

This bank is called Pillow. It is a three pitch VCV. The otos have the same issue as before. His voice is so soft and sweet! Like a pillow!

Next is the Slanki Past Recordings section. Both banks are removed.

Next is Slanki Append3. All banks have been deleted.

Next is Slanki CVVC "-Adam". 

And... They are all gone. Everything other than the two I showed. It's a bit of a good thing - those two banks are very high quality. No one will need to get worried about trying 40 appends.
