Lotus had given up hope. All of her people that had been rounded up had been put in a prison. She didn't know that the prison was needed for the strange creatures that stood on their hind legs. She just knew that they had been broken up into groups and moved. She didn't know that she was lying on the floor of a basketball court in a school gymnasium.

She was starting to fall asleep when she heard singing in her own language. It took only a single line for her to recognize the song. Empress Ametrine had commissioned a song for her. "Beautiful Lotus". The person who wrote it completely misunderstood the assignment and wrote a love song instead of a song about friendship... But Ametrine still sang it to her constantly.

The voice was strange and far away, but she knew it was Ametrine's voice.

"Did you hear that?!" She called out as she jumped to her feet. "That's the Empress!"

Her people just looked up at her, mostly annoyed.

A creature with light blue fur stood. "Why would we be happy? You are an Earth Dragon. Are you happy because she can no longer terrorize your people?"

Lotus's blood ran cold. She was the only Earth Dragon in the room. Almost everyone else was a Sun Dragon like the Empress. Lotus was visibly different beyond the fact that her fur was a deep emerald green with vibrant pink and yellow accents. Her face was more fox-like and she was shorter and thicker than the others.

A dragon with light pink fur stood and laughed. "You don't recognize 'Beautiful Lotus'? She was The Empress's pet."

Lotus shrank back. She had felt something strange as they had left the prison. She didn't realize that the closer she got to Ametrine, the stronger the feeling was. She had never left Ametrine's side in her world - she didn't know what it felt like to be far away from her.

"Look." An elderly dragon with white and grey fur stood. "This is what you were trained for, isn't it? Lotus, go forth and find The Empress."

No one knew the elderly dragon's name. She was just Grandmother to everyone close to her. Lotus nodded. She looked at the strange creatures guarding the door. 

"Okay." The dragon with light blue fur rolled her eyes. She walked to Lotus and pressed her paw on Lotus's forehead. She mumbled until Lotus became invisible. "It will wear off soon, but you're good at camouflage, right?" Her voice was bored and sarcastic, but Lotus knew that she was telling the truth.

Lotus turned and started running. The strange creatures were extremely confused when the door seemingly opened on its own, but they didn't care enough to investigate it.

Lotus knew nothing about this world, but all she had to do was track down Ametrine. Her tracking power was going to make that trivial. At least, that was what she hoped.
