Forgotten Friday #311 - Shippo Chikane / 誓音シッポ

Chippo is an eighteen year old woman who seems rude because she avoids talking to people.

"You can do this Lotus!" Lotus whispered to herself as she bounded through the forest.

Dragons were born with magic powers, usually genetic. Lotus had been sold off to the royal family as a child to be able to track The Empress at all times. Her parents, who she never met, lived very lovely lives thanks to the trade.

The feeling was getting stronger as the sun was starting to rise. But then she came upon the houses. She had to be careful, but she was tired and starving. There weren't too many houses. She didn't feel safe going near the road. The houses were backed by woods and the back yards were fenced in. She tried to slink lower and walk against the fence line. She knew she couldn't be caught. 

As she walked, the feeling got stronger. She crouched down and readied herself before jumping in an attempt to scale the fence. Her paws caught on the top of it and she threw herself over. The feeling got stronger and stronger.

She had a split second to make a decision. Break a window and sneak in or just politely knock on the door. Luckily, she didn't need to make that decision. The door opened and Mary was standing in the doorway. 

Mary motioned for Lotus to come inside, and Lotus ran as fast as she could. As soon as she was inside, Mary shut the door behind her. 

It wasn't an amazing twist of fate that Mary was at the door. There had been reports of a breakout in one of the places holding the creatures and of a bobcat skulking about. John had installed motion activated cameras in an attempt to protect Gem. Mary stayed awake and by the door after informing Gem of the bobcat sightings. John knew what a bobcat was and he was sure that whatever the creature was, it was probably related to Gem.

Mary made sure that Lotus was following her as she went up the stairs. That giant, overwhelming feeling Lotus had felt was gone. She was beside Ametrine again - she was where she belonged. 

She gasped when she saw the brace on Ametrine's neck.

"Lotus?!" Ametrine gasped. "Darling beautiful Lotus!"

Lotus hopped onto the bed and hugged Ametrine close to her. "Ametrine, why are you wearing that?"

"You know my power, Lotus." Ametrine wrapped one arm around Lotus. "It does not work here. I physically cannot stand or hold my head high on my own."

"Mine worked..." Lotus's voice was muffled. "I found you." Lotus dug her face into Ametrine's fur.

Mary awkwardly stood in the doorway. "I'll start breakfast in a few hours. Poor thing needs sleep, I figure."

Gem nodded to Mary. She could already hear Lotus's soft snores as she slept. 

So much was running through Amatrine's mind. She had to many questions and so much to tell Lotus. But she had been up all night after the reports of a missing creature and the bobcat sightings. Before too long, she was also falling asleep.
