This UTAU should be treated as a minor. Toshi is a guy who can teleport. He usually doesn't use that ability though.

Jackfruit is a really common vegan substitution for meat. I've never tried it for that purpose. The only time I've had jackfruit was when it was in an ice cream bar. My grandma dislikes it because those ice cream bars gave her indigestion! 

There was an international market in my old home town that had a restaurant off to the side. It was really, really good... When their ingredients weren't freezer burnt. Sometimes they kind of made mistakes like that. But what I really cared about was what dessert I was getting from the store! 

In the summer, they had ice cream bars. They were super awesome and my favorite was adzuki flavored! They had a ton of cool drinks. I loved buying fruit canned in syrup from there. I felt so fancy eating my lychee on crushed ice for the next few days. 

What I really loved though was the mung bean cakes.

That international market was run by people from Southeast Asia. That market closed after I left for California. A Korean international market sprung up on the opposite side of town eventually! 

The Korean one doesn't have a restaurant, but they do sell ready to eat food. Like, an entire plastic tray of bulgogi. If I wasn't vegan...!

They don't have those mung bean cakes, but they have something way cooler... Mochi. I've went on and on about mochi before. But it's really cool to see it for sale in person!

The new international market is still cramped and filled with all of the canned fruits and stuff. I just am in a really different place than I was back then. Having to read every label slows you down - especially when it's those tiny stickers that they put on foreign food! 

Now, let me tell you, going to 'international markets' in Los Angeles is nothing like going to one in Tennessee. Those are just straight up supermarkets that are targeting a specific demographic. Heck, some of them are just straight up malls. It's so insanely different.

There is an "international market" in the city in closest to. But the thing is that it's actually a Latin butcher with a restaurant attached with shelves of Latin foods. The food was very good and I was able to get tripe! My favorite thing they had in the store part was definitely Jaritos.

I know there's more to explore in Nashville. I swear, there was a place that had a picture with Magnolia ice cream in their freezer! But there's a lot less will to just leave the house to see what we can find when I can't eat the majority of the food out there. 

Oh well. Maybe someday I'll get some young jackfruit and see if I can pretend it's barbecue. I definitely miss getting Witt's Barbecue and eating the meat directly from the container. (Don't worry - they were personal sized containers. We all got our own pint of meat.)
