I love Praat. It's just so awesome!

So I had a script that exported USTs thanks to Hataori-P. I had edited it a bit. I made it so that it did auto CVVC based on Diffsinger style labeling and it automatically calculated the intensity of each note. I used UtaLis to add the pitch bends and that was great! Not as realistic as when I edited the envelopes to get as close as possible to the reference vocals, but I was done with that mess. Not worth it! 

Well, Diffsinger does not recognize intensity. My options were a) trace the note Intensity in OpenUtau or b) programming.

So I sat down and edited the script so that a dynamics curve would be generated. It created four points per note to mimic UTAU envelopes. That would be good though, but UtaLis pitch bends are glitchy in OpenUtau. Mostly, they are great. But you can get nasty issues where the pitch bends of two notes Interfere with each other. So... I needed to use a different method. 

I used dynamics to test the theory. The script would go through each note by steps and say "at this time, intensity is this value." It worked!! Sounded great! 

Pitch was just the same... Except pitch is complex and I needed ChatGPT to do the math for me. 

The issue then was that I had ordered pairs in a text file. ChatGPT was down so I had Gemini make me a page that would turn those text files into the actual curves! 

But... OpenUtau has default pitch bends and hidden vibrato. No! This ruins my beautiful pitch curve! 

So with the help of AI, I created a new web page. This one set all of the default vibrato to not exist and all of the pitch bends to just be little lines completely confined to the inside of the notes that I believe means there is no effect on the pitch curve. 

So yeah. If I wanted to do voice copy (that's who I am as a person) I could have just gotten into RVC.

But I need to be complicated and weird. That's just who I am. I can't be normal and do the logical thing when I could spend hours of effort to be extra and confuse everyone. 

Besides, if I do all of that voice copy work, any Diffsinger model can sing that USTx. You couldn't do that with RVC! Unless you were just uploading the audio itself to be ran through RVC, but that's way less Vocal Synth... And I am a vocal synth girl! 

I mean, being weird is why this blog is still running. I've been doing this since 2018. In a few years, this blog will have been running with no hiatus for ten whole years! With just one person using tons of UTAUs...

So yeah! I think I will have used over 1,000 UTAUs by the time this blog is ten years old. How fast could I schedule that out in advanced?! I can get a year done in a month…
