Wiki Wednesday #87 - 比音チキト / Korone Chikito
So, this is one of those UTAUs that doesn't really have much to them. For Overseas UTAUs, the best way to learn about them is by doing sleuthing in the included text files or poking around their website. Unless they're old and their voice provider filled the UTAU fandom page with random details, it's mostly within the bank itself.
However, for Japanese UTAUs, UTAU Visual Archive is a lifesaver. Unless it's a case like the assassins uploaded into computers to take care of partially deleted insomniacs, they tend to have almost all of the available information in one place. Nicopedia is an alternative for really obscure UTAUs, of course, but that tends to be really outdated if the voice provider continued on past 2010.
So, yeah.
Who is Chikito Korone?
Official Icon from Bank |
Okay so, mild spoilers from Good Girls on NBC. The show was okay. I didn't really look forward to it, but I wanted to know what happened. I didn't dislike watching it, but it felt like a really weird rip-off of Claws on one of those cable stations. It did get to a point where I obviously cared about the characters and their well being, but then it kind of.. nope.
Years ago, there was a Tumblr post admonishing fans of shows who think they know the characters better than the writers... And plenty of people responded with "Have you seen Glee?!" Writers turning over has been disastrous for Good Girls the way it was for Glee. Every single character except for "Gang Friend" was a malicious shell of their former selves. I refuse to even call Beth "Beth" in my head. She's Joan... Which is an insult to Mad Men, but my goodness. Beth has become simply... dumb? Malicious? And Katara... I mean Annie... she went from a sad, lonely girl to a homewrecker. She done homewrecked her baby daddy in a previous season, but that makes sense. Old emotions and stuff. But in the latest season, she worked her behind off to homewreck her therapist. WHY. (Also... She studied for months and failed the GED with only a sixth grade level of understanding? She... dropped out of high school.. not middle school... Should she be tested for a learning disability? She could get accommodations of that was the case.)
Ruby's okay. The only character assassination for her is just laying down too quickly to Beth's will.
But then there's "Gang Friend" who I call "Tuco Supreme" for the guy played by that guy who adopted a racist kid in Major Crimes in Breaking Bad. No one calls Tuco Supreme by his name in Good Girls. His name is Rio, but the writers won't give him the honor of like, you know, making people call him Rio. Maybe I missed someone slipping his name in, but it like... doesn't happen.
The writers want us to hate Rio. But here's the thing... He's the best character. Him and Beth are the best ship. Beth's husband is played by Shaggy from the Live Action Scooby Doo movies and is a very bad person in the show. Like, abhorrent. But, the writers push DEATH (yes, that's the ship name) because... Beth is a gOoD gIrL and isn't BaD like RiO. No one wants DEATH. No one likes DEATH. Why are you pushing it on us!? Every time they try to be romantic, everyone wants to barf.
Anyway.
Chikito is a seventeen year old boy who likes yogurt, cake, and parfaits. He dislikes wasabi... and frogs I guess? He's a positive person. He likes cooking and has a shovel.
How are Korone Chikito's banks?
Chikito has three banks. The first is ordinary, the second is Ecet, and the third is Spice. Is Ecet a butchering of et cetera?
First, let's look at the normal bank. It is a one pitch VCV bank. It sounds like a young woman struggling really hard to do a cool male voice. It's pretty good if you like that voice type. (And yes, a vocal fry between a VV caused a bark.)
The next is Ecet. Ecet is a CVVC bank with two pitches and one "expression". Watch me be a rebel and make it a three pitch bank. It's okay. I made it actually CVVC because I'm thinking of tuning for CVVC banks soon. The pitches work together really nicely, and it's a good bank.
Finally, there is Spice. Spice is a one pitch VCV with a deeper tone. It sounds much closer to a male tone than the other banks. It was probably my least favorite of the three until I redid the OTOs for this selection. Then, it was pretty cool.
Where can I download Chikito Korone?
You can download him from his download page. This is a popular voice type and is done pretty well. Not the best, but when you collect banks based on voice type, you aren't looking for the best every time. You're looking for pretty good. And this is pretty good.
