Wiki Wednesday #180 - AL-Loid / アル-ロイド

AL-Loid is an actress living in Japan who will eternally be fourteen years old. If I'm reading it correctly, her back story is really sad. She hates bullies and broccoli, but she loves birds and parties. Also, apparently she has the ability to fly.

Dr. Joe and I made an agreement. I would spend the night forcing the "trainees" I was babysitting to study on sapient slime ball anatomy and join him in the meeting. The trainees would get a glowing recommendation for their efforts and miss out on being forced to exercise for one night.

As soon as I left the cafeteria, I went straight to the library. I'm sure hearing that we had libraries with actual books on a Union ship sounds crazy. But there are valid reasons for preferring books to screens. I leaned against the counter as the librarian turned to me.

I told her about the situation and just asked her to have as many books about the anatomy of sapient slime balls as possible printed. She laughed. She knew I was serious. It was just a funny situation. She typed a bit into her computer and the machine behind her started to whirr. 

I took the freshly printed hardcover books and sprinted to the poor souls' dorm room.

There were six of them. This was a good batch. They were all willing to make whatever changes needed to fit in. It didn't even matter, because the changes were simple things like covering teal skin with makeup or wearing gloves to hide bird-like talons. (The Union did get more progressive over the years. When I started, using gloves to cover talons was "too much of a risk.")

I threw down the books on the table in the center of the room and went through the explanation again. Some were jumping from their bunks to grab the books, and the others were confused. I pointed to the confused ones and told them what to search the database for on their tablets.

We all learned more than we could have expected.

The gorgornakhs, as they were apparently called in Latin script, were really, really mean and prejudiced to their own people. On Union ships and Union media in general, the slime balls were always perfectly translucent blobs of green or purple. In reality, they could be any color of the rainbow. Only green and purple were acceptable, though.

The girl with teal skin placed the book she was reading in front of me and pointed at the black and white image. It was grainy, but it showed a slime ball with visible organs. She explained to me that the perfect slime ball has organs that have the same refractive index as their slime. The majority of them have visible brains, stomachs, and eyes. I gagged. I wasn't proud of it.

The girl with talons silently sent me a few paragraphs she had found in an absolute wall of scientific text.

I glanced over it quickly and stood. In this clipped recount, it sounds like this lasted minutes. No, we were tired. It had taken hours. The tension in the room melted away as I announced that we had found it. All of the girls sighed in relief until I nervously admitted that I needed their help phrasing everything for the meeting. I promised that I would let them watch me enter my glowing praise into their files. They relaxed again.

In moments like those, I wish the Union had artificial day and night cycles to romantically punctuate moments like that.

How is AL-Loid's bank?

So, bankception. I didn't check further than comparing the dates of some of the samples, but an entire copy of the full bank is in a folder called voice inside of the bank.

I am so confused.

The romaji thing is because of bankception. 

If you choose the voice folder, she will be able to sing in romaji with no issue.

Now, the rest of that I don't understand at all. The vowels have aliases that mimic vcv, but because this is just cv, it's only for... So I get saying vcv helper, but I'm really stuck on the cvvc claim.

She has a bright and clear voice with a very nice tone. however, her oto file needs a lot of work. Sadly, fixing otos with the touch screen is nearly impossible in utau, so I couldn't fix the entire sample. You can make her sound better than I did!
