Kira uses they / them pronouns. They have an adorable design! They love my favorite color (lavender), they hate bugs, and their creator, Xephoria, at some point really liked the show that I developed my sense of humor from before Homestar Runner and Asdf Movies.

Cursed Teletubbies, part 5

I felt bad for not watching any of Max's videos before contacting him. He was a natural as he whisked me around his studio and spoke to the cameras completely off the cuff. I really couldn't understand why he wasn't famous by now... Until he started to get into the technical babble that shut off my brain.

He was at a top down camera on his workbench comparing the tape against modern recreations when he suddenly stopped. "Oh." I was jerked back to reality as he turned and grabbed several more tapes and frantically comparing them.

I had given him permission to destroy the most boring tape if needed, so I had no real reaction when he pulled out some testing kit and started swabbing the black tape with something.

He looked up at his face camera and looked terrified. "So, guys, all of us tape heads know all of the modern manufacturers and we can figure out who made the magnetic tape and when they did it. It's hard to get your hands on period accurate stuff..." He grabbed a plastic bag from under his desk and pulled a small tattered length of the a magnetic tape out of it. He did the same swabbing test and held up both of the results. "These materials are fully period accurate." He looked fully into the face camera. "It costs a lot of get all of the machines you need to make this tape. I'm pretty sure I know everyone who has the equipment. They would be bragging until their lungs gave out if they were able to make a fully period accurate tape like this."

"Max..." I felt awkward butting in. "What does that mean?"

He looked over to me. "It means your tapes violate the laws of physics."

He shut off all of the recording equipment and stared at the cassettes on his bench. "Greg, it makes no sense. This is one of the tapes with a recreation casing. Anyone can print or have someone print those, but no one can make this tape."

"Look," I sighed. "This stuff makes no sense. You know how thorough my AI is. My AI believes that every single thing is genuine, even things that shouldn't be possible."

My phone beeped. I had it on do not disturb. I pulled out out of my pocket and saw the notification from Booples. "Big Bird Challenger." A few seconds later, a file name and time stamp popped up.

I opened up the company server and I navigated to the file. I opened it and jumped to the time stamp he had given me, moving myself so that Max could watch the video also.

The video, which I had no way of proving fake, and Max likely had no way of proving fake, was news coverage from 1986. The Challenger had exploded... And the country was mourning the loss of Big Bird. It took a moment to register, but I finally gasped.
