My body hurt as I woke up. There was drool on the blank book that I had been writing in. It had been a week of furiously studying and passing out. But I was raised to be a Warrior, not Rough. This kind of goal for the betterment of something was what I needed to feel alive.

I didn't have anyone who worried about me. I just had to make sure I ate and used the bathroom and I was fine sleeping at the terminal. She really had given up - other than my excursions into the living quarters for food, I hadn't seen anyone.

The drool hadn't ruined any important notes.

I knew what I wanted to do, but I didn't understand why. I wanted to make the display show color. Somehow, they knew what the terminal was. That it was some kind of tube shooting tiny bits of energy at a screen. But they showed how to make it colorful. I kept thinking of ways that this would be 'worth it' to produce. But at the same time, no one other than us at the lab had ever seen a terminal show anything other than text.

I grabbed my papers and stood. I felt a bit wrong leaving her out of this, but I needed to be smart. She could pull rank and take away the terminal if it stuff looked useful.

I had to leave the laboratory to go to the manufacturing plant. It felt so strange being truly outside after so long. I was grateful the sky was overcast so that it didn't burn my eyes.

The manufacturing plant was large but lifeless. I broke into a sprint once it was in view. I threw open the doors and ran through the halls until I was standing outside of the electronics division.

I took a deep breath, put on a nice smile, and walked in.

"Oh!" A Fragile stood up from his desk. "You're... We went to school together..."

I shook my head. "You know the rules. I lost my name, and you lost your name. I'm just another Rough, and you're just another Fragile."

He looked like he was going to cry.

"Okay, Mkret." I laughed. "Just because I'm happy with it doesn't mean you are."

Mkret looked so happy that I had used his name.

"What do you know about terminals?" I grabbed a chair as I walked to his desk.

"Well..." He watched me as a sat down across from him. "They're pretty dangerous." He shrugged, "it's a miracle no one has figured out how to make them into a weapon." He froze. "Did... You?"

I shook my head and laughed. "No, no!" I placed my notes on the desk between us. "Something better." I leaned in. "I have found out a way to make them show actual color."

He stared at me, confused. "Why would we want different colors of text?"

"Because a terminal could show us much more than text."

How Is Mari's bank?

Mari has a one pitch CVVC bank. The voice is really nice and good quality. I was almost hoping for a troll bank to go with a troll character, but no. It's just a good bank with a hard to find tone.
