Forgotten Friday #303 - 無地歌 / mak's Mujika
There doesn't seem to be much information on Mujika as a character. She loves conveyor belt sushi.
Who Is Mujika?

John knew they needed to get Gem out of the bed, but he also understood that her neck was too flimsy for her to keep it upright on her own. He was trying his hardest to put together a plan as he stood in the pharmacy aisle.
He had searched online and found out the towels were great for humans in a pinch, but Gem was closer to a giraffe than a human. He wandered to the hardware aisle. Inspiration struck him. He could use things like curtain rods! He grabbed way too many things and bought them.
Mary was sitting on her porch when John returned. He held up the rods and other supplies as he got out of the car.
"That's a pretty impressive haul." Mary gave a soft laugh as she opened the door to let John in.
"How often do you have to figure out how to make a neck brace this long?" John shook his head as he made his way up to the bedroom.
He got to work trying to stabilize Gem's neck. It was difficult and took a while, but eventually she was sitting with her neck fully extended without any pain.
"Do you think her legs need braces?" Mary was nervous as she stood in the doorway. "We still have the wheelchair from when Jim broke his leg."
"Maybe." John shook his head. He grabbed a notebook and wrote the character for 'walk'.
Gem slowly moved to get off of the bed. She was almost there, but the moment she put her two front paws on the ground, she collapsed with a yelp.
Mary gasped and ran to her. She picked her up enough to place her back on the bed. "huh. John, she's really light. Like, too light."
"You think we could get her into a wheelchair?" John watched as Gem tried to calm down.
It took a lot of time and embarrassing moments, but John and Mary were able to teach Gem how to use the bathroom and navigate in the wheelchair. John was convinced that they would need to get some kind of braces for Gem's legs for her to be able to walk.
Gem was smart. She picked up that John was John and Mary was Mary - though she said both with an accent. As they were fussing around her, she would call them by name and gesture with her paws that were miraculously capable of being used as hands.
It was a stressful day, but John had to go home by the end of it. Mary had come to terms with the fact that her bedroom with an attached bathroom belonged to Gem now. Thankfully, she still had her children's childhood bedrooms to sleep in.
Through it all, Mary was praying that she was in a nightmare and that when she woke up, Jim would be by her side.
Most of her knew better, of course. She just didn't want to give up hope.
How Are Mujika's banks?
It seems that Mujika has four banks. There is no human data in her banks as far as I know. The first, and also latter, banks were created with the Synthesizer, Synth1.
The first bank is a CV bank. The otos are very incorrect in places but perfect in others, which likely made her sound more artificial! She has a lovely voice that sounds like a more mature Defoko.
Version 2 seems to have lowered the harshness on things like "s" and may have longer samples. She sounds clearer!
Version 3 seems to include a weak append! So allow me to be educational for a second! So the character ん actually isn't just one sound. There is the sound like "king" in English, for example panko. There's m before b, n before d... And then there's the sound between two vowels. I got so upset with Haruka Nana's VCV because it felt almost perfect... Except her ん samples were a weird nasal "u" instead of "ng". I bring that up because this bank has a weird nasal "u" for ん. First, I played the main bank. She sounds so cool and forceful! The weak bank sounds more like her previous banks, but the samples sound more human.
Finally, we have her new style vcv. She is perfect and I love her. The person who made her is extremely talented and has grown a lot since starting this project.
Where Can I download Mujika?
It's bad form to directly link to downloads, but with the visual archive being down, here is the bowlroll profile that has all of the banks. I love Mujika so much!
