Axfc is a jerk. Here's my post on how to get downloads from there to work.

Multi-pitch CVVC banks do not work properly with the shareware A for automatic button!! Any articles where I complain about CVVC banks being broken is my own fault for not figuring it out sooner!!

Forgotten Friday #122 - 愛琉家の赤穴(れぐぬすだがね) / airuga's Akana

Alright! So I have 33 articles written and ready to process for Forgotten Friday. That's a lot! The most I had done in one day as far as just processing goes was ten... Do you think I can top that and get all thirty-three done?! After that processing, I have twenty-two ready to write on either my Chromebook or my phone. That's over a year worth of articles.

Forgotten Friday #122 - 愛琉家の赤穴 (れぐぬすだがね)/ airuga's Akana

So, Airuga is like a box of chocolates.

This UTAU's biography, character art, and the only story about him combined together to make my eye twitch.

Who is Akana?

from official standing picture

I read through everything, and I can confidently say that he dislikes all milks! Condensed milk and soy milk especially get snubbed.

He is some kind of sea creature with scale that he covers with a giant hoodie. He has long fuchsia hair.

I mean, I want this to be a family friendly blog. His backstory is not family friendly. With Niita, I could just walk around it and still imply what was going on. But with this it's like, che. I'll do the same here. When the biography said that a girl owned him, I assumed that he was a merman living in an aquarium. Then I saw his personality was hentai and read the story and was like. Naw. It ain't cute like that. It's definitely PG-13 to bring any of that up.

Now, I can imagine someone saying "it's never cute to own a sapient being." Well, in I Dream of Jeannie, in universe logic meant that Jeannie belonged to Tony. It's problematic because it's the 60s, but it's cute and fun.

Also, Mark Hamill played the Tony character (he was a high school student and a surfer!) in the animated adaptation from the 70s. The guy hustled insanely hard. His filmography on television from before Star Wars is insane.

I Dream of Jeannie is a problematic example because of the fact that eventually Tony and Jeannie do end up engaged. But you know what's less problematic? The Smiths on American Dad owning Klaus. He has the mind of a human, but he logistically requires humans to care for him. He belongs to them the way a Brian belongs to the Griffins. Wait, that should have been the example.

Klaus is so hilarious in the TBS era of American Dad. I have no idea when they decided that it was safe for everyone to interact with him. And like, there was an episode where Haley had herself turned into a fish by the CIA so that her marriage to Klaus would be believable. No one questioned that! Everyone just accepted that she was a talking fish! No questions asked, other than why she didn't have the CIA turn Klaus into a human.

Flanderization sounds like something official and meaningful, but it came from discourse around The Simpsons. One character trait is magnified and exaggerated to the point that the character is only that trait. And it's funny because it happened to Ned Flanders at least twice. What everyone knows is that he went from pious to a zealot. (In less fancy terms, he went from going to church being important to going to church being his only character trait.) But they also Flanderized the fact that he was left handed somehow. The Leftorium was his store for left handed people. It wasn't a one episode gag. Him owning his store for left handed people was canon.

That digression ties back to American Dad because the characters aren't Flanderized. They don't even have the same personalities from episode to episode. And with most shows, that would be frustrating and a reason to stop watching. But not modern American Dad! The fact that the characters just act on the most hilarious way possible, even if it goes completely against their canon personalities just makes for annexing absurdist comedy. Now, mind you, the show is extremely adult and they don't censor the majority of the curse words. It's also painfully violent and the first time you see Rogu, you might feel sick.

Don't watch the show if you're under 16, okay? Kids don't need that mess in their heads. FOX's run of American Dad was a slightly raunchier and better version of Family Guy. If your parents let you watch Family Guy, they'd happily let you watch the FOX run of American Dad. The FOX episodes and the TBS episodes are shuffled around the rerun schedule, so it's not really safe to just watch the reruns.

How is Akana's bank?

Akana has one two pitch VCV bank. Ayayayayay. This is like a one minute fix, and that includes me finding and opening SetParam. But the lower pitch has no suffix. So it will never trigger. Did they not... notice that? And the OTOs are bad. I fixed both issues.

The voice sounds nothing like the design. The bank has some issues, and it's pretty nice when you put effort into it, but it's just very odd that the bank sounds so unlike the design.

Where can I download Akana?

You can download him from his distribution page. It's strange. If you like the design, you may not like the voice. If you like the voice, you may not like the design. They aren't matchy-matchy.
