not as nyoom as last time, sadly.

"Okay. Good! We'll be there soon!"
Charlotte looked down at McKenzie as she pulled her phone away from her face.
"What's that?" McKenzie pointed up at the phone. "And why did you talk into it like that?"
Charlotte had dealt with sponges like McKenzie before. But McKenzie was aggressively Pollyanna. She could stop and explain phones, but then she'd have to stop and explain way too many things. Charlotte wasn't the president of the school because she loved children - she was the president because it was the easiest way to wriggle her political agenda through. [At some private schools, there is a president that is above the principal who more or less acts as the 'CEO' of the school.]
"Hurry on now." Charlotte tutted. She felt ridiculous for actually tutting at a child, but McKenzie followed her along.
Connie lived nearly on the border of the school grounds, so it was just a simple walk from her house to the dormitories. It confused Charlotte how McKenzie had never snuck out. Even if Tobias hadn't told her that she had never snuck out, she could tell by the way McKenzie was marveling at every single thing.
"Are you excited?" Charlotte tried to sound genuine, but she was nervous. It was just her third year as president and she still felt like she was too young. She had no silly magical anti-aging power, she really was just a confused twenty-eight year old who got the job because of politics.
McKenzie hummed as she hugged her magical bag tightly. Everything she owned was inside it, even though it was just as small she light as a handbag. She didn't have much - there were no personal items from the parents who she was taken from. Just the things Mr. Elf and Miss Constance had given her. Books, clothes, and school supplies. She never had anything like a stuffed animal.
If the kid was okay with silence, Charlotte was too. Suddenly, they came upon a building that looked out of place. Though the containment area was built in the modern era, the old guard had tried to make their little bubble in the middle of Montana look like the Irish Countryside. (Or would it be the Scottish Highlands? None of them actually knew European geography.) While most of the buildings looked like they were made with stone, the building they stopped at was completely modern.
"Well..." Charlotte looked around.
"Seraphim?!"
McKenzie spun around towards the voice. She felt herself fighting back tears as she called out "Mable!" She ran towards Aliyah, but tumbled over when the magical inertia of her bag threw off her center of gravity.
Aliyah walked to her and knelt down. "You okay, Fem?"
McKenzie nodded. "And I'm sorry I called you that, Aliyah. I didn't mean to, but I was just really excited that I could see you again."
Aliyah pulled McKenzie into a hug. "I don't think I thought I would see you again either."
