It's a Living, part one

I leaned back in my chair as the director of the department looked through my paperwork. She shook her head and softly asked why I wasn't a lawyer or a doctor.

"Bad home life." I shrugged. I noticed how she looked like a deflating balloon and felt a little bad. "But hey, I'm doing good work here?"

She cleared her throat and nodded. "Your brain is pretty excellent."

"I'm healthy, I'm not feeling any negative side effects..."

"Mr. Baxter, do you have..." She looked so nervous.

I shook my head. "No friends, no family. I live out of my van."

She let out a soft, sad noise. "Well... I am meant to write a report to pass to my supervisor. I need to get some things in order before you're given clearance to... Well, find out what I want to tell you."

I nodded. "Well, whatever it is, I hope it goes well for you. Can I get an extra shift? It's... A touchy day and I'd rather not be here for it."

She sat down the papers in her hand and pressed a button on her laptop. She glanced up at me. "Hey, Burgundy Baxter wants overtime. His physical condition is optimal... And I want to keep him happy with us."

"Sarah." A voice coming from her speakers groaned. "I know he's in there with you, and you're getting really close to an infraction. I understand why, but quit that. Have him plugged up. If the machine allows it, then he can stay around for a bit."

Sarah smiled and gave me a quick nod.

"Sarah. We can see you. Quit making implications."

I gave her a quick nod and left the room without being excused. The nurses hadn't removed any of my ports yet, so I just needed to wait for one to hook me up to the machine.

The nurses' station was homely in a way that the rest of the building wasn't. It wasn't just a desk for the nurses to work out of, it was a little nook with vending machines, coffee makers, and yellow wallpaper. The rest of the building was boring and inoffensive grey.

"Burg!" Nurse Linda laughed. "Round two?"

I nodded. The wires on my head banged against my shoulders.

"You're special, Burg. Come sit with me and eat a Honey Bun." She gave me a wry smile, "you want to make sure you've got plenty of energy."

I always tried to say no, I don't like sweets, but the nurses could send me home if I didn't follow their orders. She was right, though. I did need plenty of carbs to get through another session.

I followed her to one of the tables and waited as she started putting together some sickly sweet coffee for me.

"I wish there was a less sweet way to load up on carbs." I groaned.

"You and your aversion to sweets, Burg." She chuckled. "You're a strange bird."

How is Void King's bank?

I don't use flags. I see no use in them. But from what I gather, the rebrand may possibly be a result of dysphoria, so even if it isn't, I'll use flags to change Void King to his intended gender.

The OTOs for the one pitch VCV are moresampler otos which put the overlap in the incorrect place. I quickly moved that around. 

The voice is nice and calm. However, until his next bank is publicly released, I think the SPUTAU may prefer you to explore their other UTAUs. Maybe I'm wrong and they'd love you to use this bank - who knows!
