Forgotten Friday #245 - 松尾乱也 / Matsuo Ranya
Who is Ranya Matsuo?

For the sake of brevity, we will quickly summarize McKenzie's first week. She knew basically nothing, but the teachers were all eager to help her. Though no other students were as uniformly delayed as her, each subject had other children who were as behind as her due to the lack of requirements for educating children under the age of twelve in the containment zone. (Also, some people are naturally bad at some things... Like math.)
Tobias's work with her had brought her up to a normal remedial level as opposed to being fully illiterate and unable to do any math. Though McKenzie had people she would be around enough to become friends with, the fact that she lived in an entirely different building from them left her relying on Aliyah for socialization. Aliyah didn't mind at all, as she had also rejected the friendship of people her own age in her first year.
Aliyah hadn't started classes yet, as the first week was fully dedicated to placing first year children in the correct classes and getting them accustomed to the school without larger people who knew where they were going to bump into.
Aliyah was extremely excited for the end of the week, though. She wasn't necessarily close with the final year students who would be moving into the building she was living in because they were extremely privileged and had parents who would pay money for better accommodations.
However, she knew that the privileged teens would absolutely eat up McKenzie and take her in. How could they not? For the next few months, she would have giant baby eyes and small features that made her look closer to six than twelve. She could imagine one of the girls shrieking "Shein haul!" and pulling out a measuring tape.
Logically, the girls shouldn't be able to buy clothes from the Internet. But a system had been put into place. There were trusted adults who were allowed to use the unprotected internet. If a trusted rich kid was supervised by them, they could browse online shops.
Shipping was another issue, but it had been worked out. It would be confusing if a seemingly empty part of Montana was getting hundreds of packages. There were several people spread throughout America who would receive packages from places like Amazon. As they were also witches, they would then teleport the packages to the mail room on the campus.
This was also how care packages and letters were handled. The containment zone had special spells placed on it so that it did not show up on any satellite images or on and radars. There wasn't even a post office near enough to make deliveries, even if they weren't afraid of being caught existing there.
Of course, Charlotte was excited to dismantle those spells and removing the Internet blocks when she shared magic with all of the people of the world. Though, even she knew that it would take a long, long time to finally see that happen.
