Forgotten Friday #249 - Uchu Yochien's Sensei / せんせい

Sensei is a male kindergarten teacher who hates being hungry. Sometimes he only has one eye.

"Hello little children!" Mrs. Mossgarten clapped her hands together as she looked over the class. She knew preteens hated being called little children, but she couldn't help it. Every year, young people got younger, and she had been on Earth for over seventy years.

She still wore the same style of clothes that she wore in her twenties and kept her now grey hair in the same long and barely tamed style. Of all the teachers, she looked the most like a witch.

"Now, I don't want the fun to get ruined for anyone." She gestured at the desks. "If you know the trick, then I'll give you a minute or two to do it. Then, I'll take you to the library so you can play in the computer lab... Or read books, if you like!" She laughed. It wasn't a witchy cackle, but instead light and soft.

McKenzie looked around as a few of her classmates wriggled around. Before each of them was a lightbulb on a small black pedestal. The wriggling students each stopped once the light was lit.

"Good job!" Mrs. Mossgarten softly clapped her hands. "Now, follow me, light bringers!"

The room was silent as she escorted the successful students out. There were nervous glances until Mrs. Mossgarten reappeared with a flash behind her desk.

"This is your introduction to your introduction to magic course!" She smiled brightly. "Plenty of students have big brothers and sisters who have taken this course. They know the solution to the puzzle in front of you, so I got them out of the room so that there's no spoilers, as the kids say!" She waited for a polite giggle, but she got less and less every year. "The objective is to turn on the lightbulb. The difficult part is to leave it on." She looked out on the confused faces. "While you're doing that, I'll be helping you find your portals and activators!"

She could tell who grew up in the containment zone and who grew up in a house that relied on suppressors to not come under the ire of the Old Guard. The ones from the containment zone were nodding along, whereas the others likely didn't even know how their bodies had anything to do with magic.

"Your portal is where the magic in the atmosphere enters you. Your activator is where it goes from energy into an action." She pointed at her left shoulder. "My portal is here, but my activator is here..." She pointed at her heart.

"Once you really learn magic, you don't need to know these things. But! When you're learning, you need to know. It's the difference between..." She held up her right hand. A small green flame hopped up from it. She closed her hand to extinguish the flame. "And this!" She pointed to her left shoulder and slowly drawed her finger across her chest to her other shoulder. She paused for a second before holding out her hand.

A massive fireball leapt from her hand.

How is Sensei's bank?

We were promised more, but we just have a one pitch VCV bank. He has a voice that is Young and high but still adult. It is nice.
